Re: setup view of this forum

If you didn't already know, I?took over the /r/Crestron subreddit about 8 months ago and cleaned the place up a bit. The userbase there has been steadily growing. (as of now, 800 subscribers and around 14,500 pageviews last month) Being Reddit, I understand it's probably in a lot of corporate filters as being a bad website, but it's another possible resource for us programmers. Obviously not a place to discuss Labs stuff, or anything that should be kept out of full public view.

Also last month I started a second subreddit called /r/AVAutomation for a more platform agnostic discussion. I've been on recently and it is dead, seriously dead, which is a fairly decent loss to us AMX guys (or at least those who still haunt the place). I'm throwing this out here so that if you're an AMX programmer or Extron programmer or Control4 or whatever you do that doesn't necessarily fall under the Crestron umbrella, there's a place to discuss that and ask questions of other industry professionals. /r/AMX is a deserted wasteland and /r/Extron equally so. /r/Control4 seems to be marginally active. Unless there's somewhere else I don't know about, there's not much place for non-Crestron discussion.

This is just more places to be able to reach other programmers. And technically not a forum...so, yeah.

Ugh. I hate the Facebook format.
?
The thing I love about this group is every email comes directly to my inbox, so there's I lot I've learned over the years just "Next unread message" even if its a thread I wouldn't have paid attention to if I had to go into it. Plus I can just hit "Reply" and type. On the facebook groups that I am a member of it's clumsy, easy to miss responses, etc., etc.

Not changeable that I know of, and yes it bugs me too.? I personally hate the format of Yahoo groups.? Yes this is the only reason that I have a yahoo account still active after all these years.

With that said, why don't YOU suggest to the group to move to a different platform.? ;)? (or you can wait until daylight savings starts so we can synchronize our clocks once and be done with it).

Who knows, down the road, we may be forced to change platforms since Yahoo is in the process of being bought out, and don't know if groups will continue down the road with new owners.? If that happens, as long as the consensus isn't to move over to some Facebook group where you need a facebook account to access, I'll be happy.

Re: ip cameras

I don't know if you've looked in the help section of Crestrons website yet but, if you search for "streaming" it should bring up some documents that show the best rtsp/mjpeg settings to use for specific brands/models. I'm not sure if hikvisiin is in there, but it would be worth a look for sure

IMO, though, you are better off using mjpeg with the Crestron app. I have 8 cams in my system and the 7 that don't support rtsp take about a second or two to start streaming. The one that uses rtsp used to take about 5-6 seconds to load but has been taking a good 12-15 seconds to load lately.

Re: SWAMP-24X8

Controlling the SWAMP24x8 is pretty self explanatory. Have you looked at the help file for it in Simpl?

I hate to be "that guy" who tells you to read the help file, but I feel like a lot of the "example program" requests we see here are more or less people being lazy looking for code to copy and paste rather than learning how and why things are done. I'm not accusing you of doing this, I've just noticed a lot of requests from people for example programs for things that would take less time to figure out just by reading the help file for the device.

Hi all!

Been doing mostly commercial work for a the past 8 years, but have a resi job that the client wishes for TV to be ceiling mounted over a kitchen sink counter with the ability to swivel around to the kitchen table area. The client also wishes the back of the TV to be covered in way to hide the back of the display, wiring, RMC black box, etc. Looking for something around 28-32" in screen size but not having very good luck finding product out there. Has anyone worked with any custom brand they might want to recommend please??

Thanks,

SWAMP-24X8

Hi guys,?

I am programming a SWAMP-24x8 for the first time. Does someone has an example code of how to program it?

Thanks

ip cameras

what rtsp cameras work well with crestron app?? we use hikvision and openeye and it takes 20 to 30 seconds to get an image remotely.? extremely ridiculous and embarrassing, and brands tips and settings would be most helpful.

Re: HD-MD4X1-4K-E

To add to that, you can also use the word 'show' at the start of most commands to query the current state of the switcher.

Example:

show input 1 name
Returned string: event input 1 name PC

Example:

show output 1 route
Returned string:?event output 1 route 1

Re: Crestron Mobile App not working

Thanks again,

I will check tonight when I get home to see about the port configuration. ?I will post screenshots tomorrow if I still can't get it going.

I really appreciate you taking the time to help me with this,

Brian

Re: Crestron Mobile App not working

Unless I'm mistaken, Crestron Mobile (iPhone) and Crestron Mobile G (iPad) would only load a project that was designed for their respective device.? If you want to use only one instance for both devices then you would probably need to install Crestron Mobile on the iPad instead of Crestron Mobile G.

If you still can't get it to work then I'd recommend posting some screenshots of the symbol configuration in Simpl, the Ethernet settings of the processor, and the configuration in the app.? Otherwise people here can only guess at what the issue is.

The "platform not supported" error will also be triggered if the web port is incorrect.? Are you trying to connect from the LAN or WAN?? If you aren't on the WAN then I would make sure http port of your processor hasn't been changed.? If you are on the WAN then I would make sure the port isn't being blocked by your ISP.

Re: Crestron Mobile App not working

Thanks,

I actually have that same module already, but I deleted mine and re-set up the new one. ?Still no difference in the message. ?

On a side note, is it needed to have two of these devices if I want to talk using an ipad and an iphone? ?In the project I had only one, but could talk with the iphone and ipad before.

Thanks Brian

Re: ONVIF Camera PTZ Control Protocol

Any updates to this yet?

Re: Crestron Mobile App not working

It's not a module, it's a device.? Go into the hardware view, right click on your Ethernet card, select "Add Item", and then scroll down to "Crestron Mobile" and select it.

Re: Crestron Mobile App not working

I think that may be the problem. ?In the code is the older version I believe. ?Where is the module that you referenced in your link?

That is not the one I am using and would love to try it.

Thanks Brian
