Re: Control of a Blackmagic Design ATEM 1 M/E Production Switcher

¿ªÔÆÌåÓý

I made a Simpl+ module for the Atem, but it talks to a Windows app via i.p. which in turn talks to the ATEM.

We hid the app on a windows digital signage machine, been working like a dream, but I do not have the rights to the application. I can put you in touch with the person that does if it helps.

?

Of course it¡¯s useless if the windows machine were to go offline.?

Crestron App set up questions

Hi folks,

I'm not a Crestron programmer but have been maintaining and enhancing my Crestron system (AV2) for years and have "reasonable" skills in Simpl, VT-Pro, etc.

I have been using the Crestron App on a number of devices (previously iPhones, currently android smart phones and tablet and a Surface Pro 4). I have just added the android tablet but can't get it to connect. Having now explored my ethernet settings in Toolbox to get it to connect, I'm now really confused, particularly about port numbers.

The Crestron App devices are on IP IDs 03 to 06 as shown . I have configured the CIP port numbers for each device in the Crestron App starting at 41794 for ID03 up to 41797 for ID06. These configurations settings are working for ID03, ID04 and ID05, but the android tablet on ID06 won't connect (I get the message "connecting to control system", then "attempting reconnect", but it never connects).

My confusion here is related to the port numbers. As shown , I have set up ethernet addressing in the control system with CIP port 41794 and CTP port 41795 (I'm using 8081 as the HTTP due to a conflict with another program on my network). But, as shown ?in the IP Table Set up, all of the devices are connecting at Port 41794 (including the old x-panel connection on ID08). I would have thought the CIP port numbers in the IP table would have corresponded with the port numbers I used in the app configurations on the devices.

My questions are:

  • why don't these port numbers correspond?
  • It's been a long time since I originally set this up, so I can't remember how I allocated, for example, CIP port number 41794 to the Galaxy Note that is on ID03, and I can't see anything in any of the configurations settings in either Simpl or VT-Pro to do that.
  • Given that port 41795 is defined as an CTP port in ethernet addressing, and that I can't see where 41796 and 41797 are defined at all, how come they are working (apart from the new android tablet)?
Any help will be greatly appreciated,

Mark

I don't want to offer my clients a product that has been replaced by newer more cost effective technology.
It seems that besides from the Crestron Integration part, even Sonos can give Autonomics a run for a lot less money.
Your opinion will be very much appreciated.
Thank you in advance!

Re: Crestron Samsung EX-LINK Issues

I will have to open the program and look at the module. The display was a consumer grade with an exlink in, no out. I could of used the MDC module.

Re: Crestron Samsung EX-LINK Issues

Are you sure that was an EX-LINK display and not a MDC display? The EX-LINK protocol has no real feedback to speak of and the Crestron EX-LINK module doesn't do polling (IIRC, it doesn't even have an RX$/From_Display$ input). I'm using the EX-LINK module in the DB on two displays in my home as well as several (dozen) projects with no issues to note.

The Crestron MDC module on the other hand [last I looked/before rolling my own] is a pile of garbage that can do some "interesting" things when an unfixed version of it is paired with certain displays. (Including my favorite where polling for color settings would set everything to 0 and leave you with a beautiful Black and White image)

MDC = Commercial Displays, usually has an In and an Out (labeled MDC, CONTROL, MULTI-DISPLAY CONTROL, or RS232)
EX-LINK = Residential/Consumer displays - always in only (labeled EX-LINK); never an out.

On current displays, both flavors use 1/8" TRS connectors so it can be easy to confuse the two.

I do not know if this helps. I had control issues because of the crestron module. The module is always polling the Samsung. Certain request were causing issues because the Samsung did not have a response for the poll in question. Crestron told me to go with an SIO instead of their module.

I have not had an issue since I dump the module.

Re: Control of a Blackmagic Design ATEM 1 M/E Production Switcher

Just a caution on the Arduino route:

?

We had an integrator who went the Arduino route initially and came back a year later to replace it with a Crestron HD-MDyXz because ¡°something¡± kept going off in orbit every couple weeks that could only be resolved by rebooting either the ATEM, the Arduino, or in some cases both.

?

Needless to say the customer wasn¡¯t thrilled by losing camera switching on a regular basis with no real explanation or resolution. I never saw the code running on the Arduino to see what was going on there, and honestly I was happy to not be the last person to touch it since it seemed a bit¡unpolished.

Interesting. ?I have a job that I took over with the same issues, I"m going to try the SIO when I go back and see if that fixes it. ?Thanks!!

Re: Autonomics, Sonos....

Jayson Small

We have several dozen installs with Autonomic MMS-5a, 2a, and 2. ?The only issues we had were with the old MMS-2 units with failed HDD and main boards. ?They corrected this when they changed the overall design last year. ?They both have competing streaming services (including iTunes and Amazon), but with Autonomic, you are provided a 1Tb or 500Gb HDD, depending on the unit, for music storage (e.g., FLAC @ 192/24 resolution) with a great auto sync applet to import new music from the specified computer(s).

For kicks, I had just priced out a 6 zone Sonos package and one with a CN2-AMP-6x100 with a MMS-2a. ?While the Autonomics package was a few thousand more, it is an easy sell for someone asking for a D/A system and enjoys their music. ?You can drop the price considerably by using a couple of CEN-NSP-1. ?For a small system, Sonos will win on price. ?I think a 6 zone and large system you can be competitive with Crestron and Autonomic. ?

If just using Sonos as a source, then it¡¯s a quality preference between the two products. ?Keep in mind, you¡¯re ALWAYS updating Sonos and it¡¯s a PITA.

Jayson

Sonos now expands streaming services to Apple Music but nevertheless Autonomic still gain the advantage of having airplay?whereby your guest can walk in and play music straight from their devices.?

CP3 IP-ID Issues

Have a system that has been up and running for about 7 months no issues, CP3 with some TSW touch screens and iPads controlling it. Recently one of the TSW was acting strange, sending commands to a projector but the join wasn't even attached to the projector.... weird stuff. Ended up changing the IP-ID and it started working again. Then the next day the iPads start saying "System not found" go there again change the IP-ID of the iPads and they start working, changed the IP-ID back to original and still working..... now the next day.... same thing iPads say "no system found".... Heading back on site Monday any advice?

Gimp for editing, InkScape for creation. I've used Photoshop for creation (and editing) in the past, but I prefer InkScape. I've even created some InkScape python plugins for automating graphics exports.
