Using a DM switch for KVM functions at the rack?

I've got a 32x32 DM switch and I want to put a local kb/mouse and monitor in the rack that I can use to view and control several of the computer-type sources coming into the switch. I essentially want to use an extra output on the DM as a KVM switch.

I can see on most of the input cards where I would connect USB to the sources in the rack for them to be controlled, but how do I get USB from my local kb/mouse into the DM so it can be routed?

None of the output cards seem to have a TypeA USB connection on them. The only options I see are:

1) use an 8G+ (or classic DM) output with a short patch cord to an RMC-200 or RMC-SCALAR receiver for the local monitor/kb/mouse - routing the monitor and the reverse USB control from the front panel would be intuitive

2) use an 8G+ (or classic DM) input with a short patch cable to a TX-200 transmitter, just using the USB input on the TX for the kb/mouse, while still using a separate output on the switch to feed the monitor - routing the video to the monitor and the USB control from the TX on the front panel would be less than intuitive

Am I missing any other way to accomplish this? Am I crazy to want this type of functionality at the rack?

Simplify. Start with a basic

If that works, add the other stuff a piece at a time.

Re: Core3 formatted text in VTPro-e (Release Software)

Random thing I would try:

I ran my serials to MSP, you think that could have anything to do with it, it shouldn't but ??

Newest firmware/software? Tried rebooting everything?

Create a single page project with a text label and see if that gets the serial fb working.

Maybe update adobe air, or try to re-install it?

Can I clarify something when using controllers?

Right now, I'm romaing around this big house between the access points. I keep pressing a button and seeing the fb come into my CF project. At some point, when I drop one WAP and hit another (same SSID, no controller), I lose feedback for a couple of seconds but it seems to be reliably coming back without causing the connection to really break between CF and the processor. If I have a controller-managed WAPs, and good coverage, that couple-second hiccup should be eliminated, correct? The controller sees that one WAP has a better signal strength to the iPad than another and seamlessly hands them off?

Thanks, Heath

The Pakedge Virtual Cell system appears to be a re-branded Meru system. You may look into pricing a Meru system directly, and compare it to the price of the Pakedge.

Side note: Not that I'm recommending it to anyone, but Ubiquiti is claiming "seamless hand-off" capabilities in the next firmware release for their WAPs, and it doesn't require a controller to manage them. Might be something to keep an eye on, since it will be at a significantly lower price-point than other managed wireless systems.

Can someone recommend WAPs / controllers for a 4-WAP system, specifically some that will hand off connections between WAPs without hiccuping iPads? I'd like to work with something that I can set up myself (I can only learn so much Cisco ios before I forget it). I've presented Access and the client won't bite on their system.

Currently I have Netgear WNDAP 360 WAPs and while they seem to work very well standing still, they don't hand off worth a crap.
