Re: Simpl+

Jeremy Weatherford

Be sure you read the documentation Crestron provided -- the SIMPL+
Primer and the help files. If you find yourself struggling with basic
programming concepts like variables, IF and FOR statements, try
learning another language first. Visual Basic, Java, and C# all have
lots of resources available online and in bookstores, and have enough
similarities that they will help substantially with learning SIMPL+
concepts.

Other than that, your best bet is to come up with interesting
problems, then try to solve them in SIMPL+. You'll learn a lot along
the way. Try writing a countdown timer, or a password module. You
may be reinventing the wheel, and may even be doing things that could
be done in SIMPL Windows, but you'll learn in the process.

Here's another good resource --

MPS 200's strangeness

Jon Bannan

Hey guys,

So we've got 50 rooms with MPS100 and Quickmedia and we use the local VGA output as the local computer monitor which shows at all times, even when we shut the System and the Display power off. On a new install with MPS200's, when we shut the System off, it no longer passes the local monitor. The work around is to leave the System On and just turn the Display Off. If we look at the Help file for the MPS200, it says only the amp is turned off when the system is turned off. When I talk to TB, they say it shouldn't work even on my MPS100's.

Also the audio seems to reset itself to zero when we are connected to the processor. It just seems like alot of weird issues with this box.

Any thoughts?

LG RC797T IR file works just fine except that it does not have Discrete Power Commands. Does anyone happen to have discrete power commands for this device?

Re: Dyndns issue on internal network

Jeremy Weatherford

It took me a few re-readings to understand your problem, so let me
restate it so others might have a shot at answering it:

Which routers allow you to make use of/test port forwarding from the LAN side?

IE, if my router's WAN address is 9.3.2.1 and I have port 41795
forwarded to the Crestron processor at 192.168.1.95, some routers will
allow me to access it at 9.3.2.1:41795 from the LAN side and some will
not. My D-Link and I think Netgear routers allowed this, my Cisco
router did not. There may be a setting that affects this, I'm not
sure.

This is helpful for creating XPanel XEXEs that can be used inside or
outside the network, among other things.

Samsung 520DXn rs-232 module?

Has anyone controlled this tv before? It's a commercial monitor with digital signage capability built-in or something like that. Are Samsung protocols usually the same? Would one of the modules already posted work for this thing?

Have you ever been use it with a TPMC series touchpanel ?

Wich is the correct connection and touch configuration?

Thanks a lot.

Yup. Your gateway is screwed. I used to see this reasonably frequently a
few years back - you'll need to send the GW back for repair/replacement.

My system at home: I replaced a C2N-CBD with a CNX-BF12. Existing wire,
didn't even change the Phoenix connectors. Now all of a sudden the
ML-500/600s on the CNRFGWA-418 stop chatting.

Disconnect CNX-BF12 Cresnet at the CNT-BLOCK end of the cable... no change.
Even with an ML-500 at 6", 18", and 3'.

Take antenna off CNRFGWA-418 and the ML-500 works within about 3' of the
gateway. Put antenna back on, goes back to not working.

An interesting observation is that the "SIGNAL" LED on the 433 CNRFGWA
right next to the -418 is clearly illuminated with I hit any button; the
"SIGNAL" LED on the -418 only flashes when I take the antenna off or
physically touch the ML-500 to the -418's antenna (in that case, though,
even though the signal usually LED comes on nothing seems to happen)

Making me scratch my head even more: Using Superdebugger is showing me
"something" being received by the gateway, but that's not triggering the
logic associated with the press in the program

E.g. press and release "Prev Ch" on the remote that should be RFID 20

Re: Sanity failure

Have you played with a Pixell VP-2000 video wall processor? The layouts have
to be predefined by the user and to change the source type (YUV, YPbPr, etc)
of a window, you basically have to call a different layout. If you have 4
source types, each "design" has 4^n possible layouts that you need to call
(n = windows in the layout). So, given a 16:9(static) with two 4:3(dynamic)
windows, there's *only* 16 possible layouts you can call. :) The program has
to track which "design" you're viewing, and also track the type of each
source going to the processor and select the correct layout based on that.

Great! Now what?

I'm interested in creating nicer looking interfaces for my systems so I started today by downloading one of Crestron's templates - Destiny. Now I have a folder full of .psd files. I have PhotoShop, but mostly use it for editing photos and I'm unsure of where to start with this. Can anyone offer a few hints or share their workflow with me?
