Re: Fios Back Button - VMS1100 vs. VMS4100 IR function
FYI, My client and I just figured it out!!
Because the goal of device manufacturers' is to have only one button to rule them all, Fios has removed the 'Replay' button and now uses the 'Nav Left' button for replay... Interestingly, the next/advance/skip function is still discrete... |
Re: Spectrum /Comcast Zumo streaming box
I just put 5 of these in for a client yesterday. 2 of them are being replaced by spectrum because they wouldn¡¯t grab an IP address.? ? I was able to get IR control working for them, with the unit powered off the remote will output IR and you can learn those codes. If the unit is powered on the remote uses RF and will not output any IR. I can dig up the IR file and post that last today if you want it.? |

Re: ASCII to Integer
You mean ATOI does not convert string to a decimal value?? On Fri, Dec 15, 2023 at 11:44?AM adam via <adam=[email protected]> wrote: Having a rough day, --

ASCII to Integer
Having a rough day,
Nothing I try is working. I'm pulling this string apart. \x02 \x01'H\x04\x19\x01\x00\x0D stx,TankID,Sequence,Level,SignalStrength,Temp,\x01,\x00,etx
Everything is Working as expected. Except H (Level) Trying to convert to Decimal (72) is failing me. Everything I have tried does not work. Can anyone point me in the right direction. Thanks in advance Adam ? |
.ASV's - Useful or Taking up Space?
Doing my typical Dropbox Enable Offline, Disable Offline for the day as I have about 10x too much in storage to locally house files.? I was watching the Dropbox sync function and noticed something.
I've been programming with VTPro for about 20 years now and always just assumed ASV (VTP backup files) were automatically generated, whatever.? Back in the day, projects didn't take up as much memory. Now we have iPads, iPhones, TSR-310's, TSW-1070's etc for every single job.? WIth them comes all their ASV's which just doubles the amount of storage required for these files.? I never really thought about what happens if I uncheck the Enable Auto Backup every 15m function within VTPro.? I already have all checkboxes for Archive Project off. If I disable this auto save will VTPro stop generating ASV's? I know they are useful sometimes on a system crash or something, but I am pretty good about saving during changes and such so this feature really doesn't matter to me.? What does matter is the amount of space and time Dropbox is causing me to use when syncing files Online and Offline.? If I could eliminate the doubling of space used by VTPro for backups, I think I could cut my sync time down substantially. Any thoughts on this? |
Re: Anyone noticing slowdowns/failures in loading to 4-series processors lately?
System Info hangs at about 50% for a while before usually completing.?

I am seeing that on 3 Series processors as well, so I expect toolbox is a component of this. On Thursday, December 14, 2023, Slip Cougan <gk.otoole@...> wrote: It seems that any comms between toolbox and a 4-series is suffering. I'm working on a 25 apartment mdu. |
Re: VC4 test environment suggestions
Yes, thank you. Any hardware suggestions? I don't have any older PC's laying around but I do have a 2010 MacBook Pro that I could look at using virtualization.
Initially I was thinking of grabbing a mini linux/pc on amazon or something along those lines, if the M1 virtualization is a bad move. |
Re: VC4 test environment suggestions
Running a x64 OS on a M1 is slow.? It does work.? I have an old i7 pc that I run virtualization on that I run VC4 with.? As suggested by Joda, when it expires, just build another one.? While the manual is lengthy, in reality just run a basic Alma install, run the VC4 install script, and run the harden script from the answer ID.? Also, I believe you still want to install Alma 8.x.

Re: UC Engine reliability
This issue in my experience has NOT been limited to direct connect mode. Nearly a year ago now we installed three UC-CX100-T systems (sans the UC-PR that was unavailable for quite a while) and for reasons I'm not exactly sure of we connected the touch panels to the client's network switch (same switch/VLAN as UC-Engine of course) and had the disconnect issue frequently. Tech Support acted like they never saw this before and had to jump through all sorts of hoops to troubleshoot, none successful. Ultimately when we finally received the UC-PR's the touch panels connect directly to those and we (reportedly) have not seen the disconnect issue since. Of course if the UC-PR's are not part of the systems that have been sold that doesn't help much but wanted to share that the problem at hand is not just a direct connect issue.
Best regards, JWS |
Re: VC4 test environment suggestions
In my opinion the best way to have a vc4 in your own office is to use a virtual machine and stick with the trial version.
First attempt to get the vc4 running is quite complex but if you set up vc4 after every trial period you will find it easier every time.? You should find every information needed here: https://docs.crestron.com/en-us/8912/Content/Topics/Installation/VC-4-Installation.htm I hope that helps |
Re: Crestron Home - Remote App UI
Have them VPN into the house.
If you cant get them to use VPN then, you would need to port forward both the http & rstp port for each camera. Setup a DDNS address or static IP for that project You would change Home use the DNS name/static IP and those new ports for the cameras. |
CCS-UC-1 W/PS KIT vs CCS-UC-1-AV W/PS KIT
Hello all. I've just opened an old - unopened mercury system that we bought around 5 years ago, and by that time I bought both the AV and not AV system.?
I just remember that the only difference was that the AV comes with the logitech camera, usb extension, but when I've opened the box last week, I've realized that the airmedia and hdmi "license" are not included.? does anyone have more info on this? and can I get the license for those systems? thanks nico |
Re: Spectrum /Comcast Zumo streaming box
I'm not familiar with Spectrum's box, but Comcast/Xfinity uses a DirecTV Stream. It uses different IR codes than the DirecTV receivers, but there's a driver in the Group's Files section.

Same, it fails to load about 85% of the time.
Doesn¡¯t seem to matter if I try stopprog or just try to progload. It¡¯s simply fails to stop the previous program, then loads the current ¡°old¡± one. New firmware made it like 10% better but still fails to stopprog most times. A birdie told me Crestron is aware of the issue and they Are working on it. Bit that was before the latest firmware came out that was supposed to to fix it according to the help file |
