Re: OT: IR Controlled Window AC or Mini-Split AC or Mini-Split Heat Pump

Best way to find out what wireless technology is used is to check the FCC ID on FCC.org.

Thanks Jon!

Can you let me know what the model is?

Thanks again

OT: IR Controlled Window AC or Mini-Split AC or Mini-Split Heat Pump

Does anyone know of a standard brand IR controlled window AC, Mini-Split AC, or Mini-Split Heat Pump?? I just need a make/model for some testing I'm doing.? When looking at models online it is difficult to tell what technology is used by the device's remote control.

Thanks

Jay

Pulse-Eight (Zektor) ProAudio 16

I'm currently torturing myself with this unit.? I know that there's been some varied discussions in the past...
If there's anyone that has successfully dealt with this (or the 8 zone) that would be willing to have a quick chat about getting it dialed in, please send me an email with contact info...

A big thank you in advance!!!

Due to slot hierarchy (ex. loading to slot 4 may progreset slots 5-10, loading to slot 8 may progreset slots 9-10, etc.) I've always been told it's generally advised to place things like Security, Lighting, HVAC in Slots 1/2/3/etc. and less critical subsystems like AV in lower slots.

Just to add to the data points¡

?

I don¡¯t multislot that frequently outside of my house for a few reasons, but one project in particular there are 4 very cleanly divided ¡°wedges¡± including things that are core functionality applicable to all rooms, functionality that is conceptually similar but completely different on the hardware side and things that are relatively unique to specific rooms or don¡¯t apply to other rooms.

?

I¡¯ve gotten in the habit of putting all of the ¡°Type X¡± logic in the same slot, meaning that of the 4 slots used 1 is always there for the ¡°core¡± 2, 3, and 4 may or may not be there based on the room in question. This also makes it easy to pick up functionality and move it to a different processor when needed (couple use cases: one room was a ¡°takeover¡± where there was already a CP3 wired with AV control ¨C rather than pulling the CP3 just put the AV logic on that processor and skipped slot #3 on the PRO3; much more niche-y: During COVID the client decamped to a facility that allowed social distancing but had a site to site VPN to their permanent home.

We temporarily moved some of the program slots that needed to be close to the people to processors in the temporary rooms while leaving programming that needed to be close to other processes in the original processor ?and just changing the IP tables to point the right directions.

?

Needless to say¡no issues related to skipping slots or moving something that was in a slot to a separate processor.

05 HVAC

Not every system uses every slot, so skipping slots isn't really an issue.?
I also assign them consistently within the IP table.?

Cool!! Thanks! Brian and Greg!!

Re: Skipping Program Slots

Hey Chris,

I'm in the same camp as you, and like you, I do a mixture of custom and Adapt programming.
For the majority of our large projects, at least 1 other processor takes responsibility for the other subsystems.
Also, I always use the same program slots for the same subsystems.? (p1=lighting, p2=climate, etc.)
If the client doesn't have one of these subsystems, I just skip that program slot.

With many systems out there like this, I haven't had any issues.? I'm knocking on wood right now!!!
It's so nice to be able to replace a security system (looking at you GE), and the main program never changes or takes a CPU hit.

Brian

Re: Skipping Program Slots

On my home system/test system I have skipped slots with zero issues. YMMV.

Skipping Program Slots

Hi All,
Looking for others' opinions and experiences...
Because I try to take a modular approach to system programming, etc., and I have a few secondary programs that I use on occasion to support our MAIN program (always Slot 1), there are times for example when I have a project that uses only one of the secondary programs.
For a few reasons (not important for this discussion), I like to have each program dedicated to a particular slot.
EX: Sonos interface (Slot 2), Lighting Interpreter (Slot 3), Security Interface (Slot 4), etc. etc. you get the idea.

My question:
If I have a project that only needs a 'Lighting Interpreter' secondary program, I would still like to have it reside in Slot 3, leaving slot 2 and 4-10 open.
Does anyone think that there is any fundamental problem or issue with this approach...???

TIA!!

That indeed was an extra special feature that Crestron added to spice up our lives just a bit.
They changed the default setting of F9 to be a replace all, and it would do exactly that in our entire program.

I really think that Crestron¡¯s just trying to see who¡¯s paying attention!
They know that I'm paying attention!? I just don't understand why they would want to trigger me all the time!!? It always comes back to bite them!...HaHa...

I'm glad I'm not the only Nut-so!!...HaHa...

Does anyone know if there's a way to turn off or change that F6 feature??

Re: Lutron QSX Feedback #lutron

The button feedback does work and is based on the protocol. Setting the button in the QSX program to ¡°dual action¡± is the best way to get the feedback one would expect.

This has been sorted out for sometime, and Biamp has a hot fix. Please contact Biamp support as Kris Daily mentioned.

Re: Comm Port Madness

You might be crazy... but you're not the only one.? I've spent embarrassing amounts of time troubleshooting 232 wiring only to discover that I had F6d the COM port symbol.

Dimitri, Thank you, thank you!!? I think that's it...

As you may or may not know, F6 is also the short-cut to get the properties of Hardware devices like the serial port settings, TCP clients, EISC, TSW, etc...? (try it..)
As you can guess, I use F6 for setting properties all the time, and I NEVER use it to copy signals from in to out (Not that there's anything wrong with that)...
So I think what's happening to me is that in my speed, I hit F6 before I've clicked on the port symbol (or it didn't take the first time) and thus I inadvertently move a copy a signal...

Thank you again, I thought I was going crazy...:)? ?(most people say I am anyway...HaHa!)
