Well, sounds good, but I think that?s not possible anymore today.

I?m not so long in the integration business by now, but I think the times where systems have been installed once and then run untouched for the next couple of years are gone.

In the residential market new music or other software/cloud based services are popping up every day, in the commercial market it?s similar with video conferencing services. A couple of years ago, you connected a vc system via RS232, do the programming and then it would run forever.

?

I think that?s sucking up a lot of Crestron?s resources: keeping up with all these new software based services (which often don?t care much about being integrated into another system).

That's kind of getting off of the real topic a bit.? Although, we all like to rant against Crestron sometimes.
In reality, most of us that have been in the industry since the '90s have many Crestron systems that have been running 24/7 since the '90s.
They rarely have a hiccup, and if they do, it's quite often just a power supply or something simple.
Typically, a well designed and programmed system is solid after the initial debug phase is complete.
Crestron will still service and support a Pro2 that was installed over 20 years ago.? They'll even still try to help with a CNMSX-Pro (1-series) processor.
Ask Lutron to support one of their older system iterations?!
Lately, it's Crestron adding something via firmware or DB updates that breaks other things.? That is where we loose the most billable time.
They really need to slow the update release schedule and alpha/beta test things properly!

For me, the key is using what has worked forever.
That means not using CCDs, and don't update a working system.
Also, if it has RS-232, use that first over IP control.
I agree with using an SIO.? It doesn't fail.
If it doesn't need feedback and has a hardwired IR connection, use it before IP control.
If at all possible, avoid the "Cloud" like the plague.? Relying on the Internet for control is even worse than the local network.

However, it is quite interesting that Crestron Home uses those same CCDs.
I've never had a Crestron Home system have a driver failure that wasn't related to the device it was controlling.
Also, when the Sonos debacle happened recently, our Crestron Home systems still worked or at least were the first to get a resolution.
Can we unlock prog slot 0 and reverse engineer?? Probably not!

Studio - Scrollbar appearance

Hello
I want to change the look of Scrollbar in Black Glass 2.0 theme. On Dynamic Button List it's black and hardly visible.?
Could anyone tell me if its possible and in which section of Crestron Studio I should look?
I looked in ControlStyles and ImageMaps but couldn't find it.

Regards

Re: Certified Drivers

It¡¯s threads like this that make me wonder how many tradesmen Crestron has sunk because of their horrific software architecture and implementation. All the while their lawyers and marketing team hold a knife at everyone¡¯s ?throat, demanding a brand image that is impossible to maintain due to their own unusable software. ?

As a tradesman, how much billable time have you lost due to these avoidable complications?

Alexa - A few things share the name...

i was playing around with the voice modules
did a remove/discover, now all my lights won't work due to 'a few things share...'
put back old code, remove/discover - same error
generic things seem to be OK, just the lights are messed up

Re: Where to Sell Crestron Gear?

Yeah, offering things here (and obviously taking any follow-ups offline) and selling them on eBay are pretty much the best 2 options.? You might get more money for some things on ebay since most people here can presumably buy stuff at dealer cost, but the eBay buyers will rarely pay close to MSRP and you have to factor in the eBay fees.

Re: Adagio internal power supply

If no one responds tonight I will get you the info in the morning. My colleague just had to replace the power supplies in our owners Adagios. He has two and both power supplies had to be replaced. I will ask my colleague tomorrow for the information and who we bought the power supplies from.?

Thanks.?

A couple of points. I look at smart glass as a luxury product. So I really don¡¯t see the power usage as a barrier to purchase by the intended audience. In addition, power consumption is going to be based on use.? What I mean by that is if smart glass is going to be used in a window where you are primarily interested in privacy and just want a quick view outdoors every once in a while (maybe a bathroom window) then power consumption will be very low.? Of corse if the opposite is true then consumption will be much higher

Thanks?

Re: Certified Drivers

I have done several large projects with ccd's.
For the amount of effort, I wish I had just went with regular old sio.
I really like the idea but everytime I use them something happens that causes issues.

Hello,
? ? How can a IR controlled?Lutron Spacer light switch be pulsed for a certain length of time and stored?

The Lutron Spacer module has brightness, dim, Off/On. What I would like to have is 10 presets labeled 10% - 100% which is the brightness level going up the scale and vice versa.

What I can't figure out is:
1) If the lights are at 40% and I press 80%, the brightness goes up to 80%, store this value, and if I press 20%, the lights dim and store this value. I don't understand the NVRAM stuff.
2) I think it would be handy on the touch panel that if I press the 40% button that it stays illuminated until I press another percentage value
3) If I press brightness or dim, the percentage button goes off until I get to the next highest or lowest percentage.

Thanks for your help and if you think that I'm out of my mind, I can take it. :)
