SWAMP - weird bug?

Hi everyone - I have a project that had a SWAMP connected to a Sonance DSP on SDPIF output 9. The DSP amp never powers off it's always in standby, so whenever the output gets set to zero in programming audio ceases. I received a client complaint that this zone was turning on when zone 1 was being turned on to input 1. This makes zero sense because the pool zone on SDPIF output 9 can't turn onto this source in programming - the analog initialize symbol doesn't allow 1 as a value. The Sonnex tool would show None as a source even though the audio was clearly present.? After troubleshooting with True Blue they determined a hardware issue and authorized advanced replacement. Replacement installed - the same problem. I discovered that even though SDPIF output 10 isn't even defined in my programming, it was turning on to input 1 as well, so both SDPIF outputs are doing the same malfunction on 2 different SWAMP units. When I select an audio source for the pool on output 9 (that is defined in programming and is supposed to work) it turns on and when I turn it off it turns off. This is where I noticed a behavior- once I do this the malfunction stops. It only returns when there is a power cycle of the SWAMP. It appears that a power cycle of the SWAMP does something to cause outputs 9 and 10 to recall input 1 on zone 1 until you choose another source and shut it off. I've got a workaround completed but I've never been this before and I can create the condition consistently now that I screwed around with it today in person. Anybody else have this condition on the digital outputs? I've done a few with AVRs on these digital outputs which always turn on and off with the zone so I've never had this happen before. The fact that this DSP was remaining in a powered-up state seems to have allowed the condition to present itself.

Ken,? I can validate this works.? Looking through the changes, it appears this was not an easy debug? ?I'm sure this took some time to chase down.? ?Thank you.? ?-joe

Re: Lighting in Simpl from scratch

Sorry, no Facebook social media in my future.

We are having some great success with the CP4-R as well.? It's quite a powerful processor.
This isn't meant to rant against Crestron Home.? It's very impressive at what it is designed to do.
However, Crestron support specifically stated that it was not designed to do what we were attempting.

Why don¡¯t you ask your questions in the Facebook Crestron Home group? Many of us having great success with the CP4-R.?

Re: Lighting in Simpl from scratch

It might be best.
We've got a CP4-R at the office, so I might put it through its paces regarding simultaneous connections.
At least its not on a client's dime.

It still worked great for our project because of the property manager.
We named all of the scenes so that he can save them however the client likes.
He just uses the Crestron Home Setup app to adjust scenes.

Good luck,
Brian

Re: Lighting in Simpl from scratch

For the CH integration with the main processor, each interface requires a corresponding Smart Graphics application.
Media Player, Pyng Lighting, Pyng Shades, Pyng Climate, etc.
Each of those has its own CRPC connection logic in the program.
We (meaning me and TB support) were noticing a ton of CRPC errors in the systems.
When the processors boot up, they establish the CRPC connections and give the CRPC ready prompt.
This was ridiculously inconsistent!
Crestron support actually told me to build a small dummy program with one interface, and then just keep adding until they stop working consistently!
Nobody had ever actually tested the system to see what it supported!? They tell us how many lighting, climate, keypads, etc. but not CRPC connections.
We had 8 large interfaces, each with a media, lighting, shade, and climate connection.
Then, we had 10 TSR-310s, each with a media only connection.
Typically, one or two interfaces would work fine, but that's totally unacceptable.
Most of the other interfaces showed a blank Pyng application without even a disconnected warning.
We scrapped it all!? Went back to Pyng listen/trigger events and just media player CRPC.
Maybe 4 series is stable with more connections?? Who want to be Crestron's first test subject?!!!

C# http server - realtime data fed to html. #simplsharppro

So i can send content once the webpage is accessed, but im running into a brick wall with figuring out how to update the content without the user refreshing .. There are many ways to do this outside crestron, what are my **best options for within the 3series? Thanks all!

Re: Lighting in Simpl from scratch

Brian,
Can you explain what you mean by too many CRPC connections?
It seems that you are not referring to MPO and Pyng Trig/Listen modules and Smart Objects, if not what do you mean?...If CH can't handle 30-40 of those (things that Crestron is providing) then it truly is DOA...

Re: LG HU85LA Projector

I'll give it a try, thank you!!!

Re: Lighting in Simpl from scratch

Regarding the Pyng Smart Graphics:
How have you gotten it to work consistently?
Crestron TB doesn't have any clue how many supported CRPC connections are allowed.
They have stated to me that it wasn't really designed for numerous interfaces.
We recently installed a large project, and we had to scrap all Smart Graphics CRPC connections other than the music server.
This was our initial goal:
  • Processor 1 - PRO3 (Main Client Interfacing Processor)
  • Processor 2 - CP3R (Lights, Shades, Climate)
  • Processor 3 - CP3 (Running multiple programs for security, camera NVR, local weather, pool, awnings, etc.)
When we approached Crestron with this scenario, they said give it a shot and let us know if it works!
They stated that it wasn't designed for anything like this.
In the end, it didn't work.
Way, way, way to many unreliable CRPC connections (4 TSW-1060, 11 TSR-310, iPads, etc.)
We tried limiting the Pyng Smart Graphics to just the large screens ... no go.
How about eliminating climate?? Ugh, no shared infiNET EX gateway support!? Still, no go.
How about eliminating shades too?? No go.
The processors didn't make all of the CRPC connections reliably.

What we had to do is go back to Pyng listen and trigger events.
Luckily, the site has a property manager that uses Crestron Home Setup to manage the lighting scenes because the client wants one interface.
I'd love to know how it has worked for you.? Maybe the project we did was just too large.
However when thinking about a project with over 400 loads, I'd be very afraid of being Crestron's guinea pig.

Re: Lighting in Simpl from scratch

My 2 cents...
The thing I dislike most about D3 is the engravings errors (where it blanks all the keypads on a revision change)
I've done my share of Simple lighting, but to do a lighting program justice you need to have the "Last Button Raise/Lower" functionality, saving scenes, and setting schedules, is a must.

So now I use Home for my lighting, and shades.? Now I'm not a fan (yet) of home AV (and all their updates that only work after an update is done).
However, when you embed the smart graphics of the home lighting inside your great custom simple program, you get the best of all worlds.
Not only are customers able to customize their own scenes, I always tie the hard keypad buttons to those scenes, so the can actually change the levels (and loads) of a hard keypad press. Custom screen toggle let's you use "Room All On" (that doesnt have all room loads), and "Suite Off" (that turns off that room, and any other loads/rooms).

With the triggers to/from the processors, its not hard to have room on/off that could be on a Floorplan layout. Then you could always embed the smart graphics elsewhere for them to have the detailed control.

Re: Lighting in Simpl from scratch

It shouldn't be that difficult but will take some time. I had written an advanced S# module that leveraged RCB's in S+ to create dynamic ranges and configurable groups and presets. There were a few more things I wanted to add to it, but I had written it to accommodate ramped values, stepped values, etc as well.

Re: Any issues with D3 and current databases?

I'm on Device DB 200.45.003.00 and Crestron DB 203.00.005.00, and I haven't had a single problem.
However, it is just one DB release older than the current ones.
I typically wait a month or two before updating if they don't contain features or bug fixes that I need.

Good Luck

Any issues with D3 and current databases?

I have multiple machines that are having issues with the compile phase on a 2 series system running a PAC2m.? System is small, but seems to stop during the compile of the change comparison module.? Just curious if anyone else have seen this or other issues.? I am going to roll back DBs to see if it changes.

Re: HD-EXT-USB-2000-C failing when USB cam connected at Rx side

I had to update the fw twice. It will reboot 3- 4 times. Takes about 12 - 15 minutes. Wait 20 minutes before power cycling the unit. Set the receive side to "Host" for the fw update. Once completely updated, set the receiver to "device". Auto is evil. Which USB connections are you using for the camera and UC-Engine?

Engine is on the TX side to get HDMI video to the display (Engine HDMI > Tx HDMI > Rx HDMI > Display HDMI).

Logitech PTZ Pro 2 camera is in the RX side to get camera to the Engine (Camera USB > Rx USB > Tx USB > Engine USB).

HDMI video works until we connect the USB camera, which kills the HDMI video and the Rx link LED shuts off. Nothing gets from Tx to Rx or vice versa once in this state.

Tried with the Rx set to Host, Auto, and Device. The only time connecting the camera doesn't break the whole system is when it's set to Device, but even then I only have HDMI video and no USB camera the other direction.

I dealt with this on another project some time ago and TB had me update firmware, which fixed it, but that's not doing the trick this time.

Re: Socket Error on Weather module

The new SG weather sucks anyway.

No text in the weather forecast, just numbers and an icon.

The old weather would give you a full paragraph of context.

Re: Socket Error on Weather module

There is no need to add anything in Simpl for the VTPro Weather Application. They are two different things. The Weather Application was updated in a recent SG release for a new data provider. But it seems that in one of the newer SG releases they managed to mess up the Weather app completely- I have 50 series as well as 60 series that just get stuck on "Please Wait". Even on some ipads too. I had heard the fix was to roll back SG but not sure. But again the Simpl side has nothing to do with this. The Weather modules are not needed unless you are rolling your own custom weather pages.?

Re: LG OLED TV CCD IP Driver - How to get it to work on a CP3?

yes, mickeysomra, I have been following Answer ID: 100052.

Did I misunderstand your post in /g/crestron/message/239930? Based on that I thought you have not gotten IP to work. However, in above you say you did get get the driver to work. If so, is this with one of the applicable LG (OLED) TVs?
