The installers didn't connect pins 7 and 8. Although everything
works fine with only 2, 3, and 5 on the other model plasmas there,
I'll have them try it with extra pins Monday.
Thanks!

I have had some weird issues of late too with NEC panels however
nothing like what you have stated. I noticed that after the 3 series
that the RS232 connection had to be a complete cross-over cable
arrangement with pins 2,3,4,5,6,7,8 all needing connection before it
would respond. I never had to had such pins all terminated in a
cable
pre the 4 series.
I also experienced a situation where a particular unit a 50XR5M had
an
issue where if a power on command was sent back to it within 2
seconds
of its response code - the unit would stop responding and a complete
reset (power disconnect and 30 second wait) would resolve this.
If you have this all right above and have tried a full reset I feel
you have a NEC problem.
I'll post a module online in the morning that has been working very
well for me.
Good luck.
