If the Apple TV is configured for 720P/SDR, it should (will) not try to send higher resolutions and/or HDR.

The AVR and projector definitely only support v1.4, they're 10 years old!!...:)
Limbert, do you think that even if the Apple TV is set to 720p/SDR, that it would still try to play? the content at a higher level?
also, when we get a black screen, sometimes we still see subtitles...:(
