Need Help getting 1980 Commuta going
Have 1980...got six batteries..8v got charged to 7.5v+ ea
My car was previously owned by a Boston area tech college. Dash is apart ...charger is out ....took batteries out to charge individually Car rolls and stops...has 4200 miles on it bought Delta charger Got the manuals and been to youtube.....familiar with combustion vehicles....this golf cart has me perplexed...wondered if any of you out there have the time and patience spoon feed me to the promised land....... to speed up the process can call or text Thank You Roy in MA 01702 iphone 508 472 4207 |
I'm sure we can help you Roy. To begin,? a fully charged 8v battery should be closer to 8.5v each with a total 48v pack fully charged around 51v. At 7.5v, those batteries are very low. I'd try hooking them all up together and letting the delta do its work. It will likely take a few charges to start balancing them so keep an eye on the water level. Do you know if your car still uses the contractors or has been updated to a modern controller? I'm not seeing the full picture perhaps?? All I see is the speedo. Might be a fault of my phone?? White wires in the dash are interesting. perhaps there was a sale on white wire.? On mine every dash light uses a white wire for both positive and negative, and a few others as well.? ?You probably have another 12v battery as well, or a voltage reducer,? since 8v batteries dont make 12v as nice as 6v do tapped of the main pack.?
