Just bought a 1970 something Citicar!
I just bought a Citicar to restore and have a huge list of questions. I'll just start with trying to figure out what year it is. - The VIN number is 64SR1117. - The labels on the side are SV48 (it has no batteries in it) - The motor is parallel with the rear axle - It has front disc brakes. If the 1117 in the VIN corresponds to the vehicle number, it doesn't jive with some of the information I have been able to obtain. I understand the 48 volts didn't start until car number 1501 (124SR1501). Also not sure why mine has the "64" in the VIN and others have "124". Can anyone help with more information? Also, does anyone on the list with a Citicar live in the Orlando, FL area? I would love to see another one to see what parts I am missing. Other than the batteries, the only thing I know I am missing is the parking brake lever.? Thanks, Harry - Orlando FL. |

开云体育Harry: ? Welcome to the group.? Your serial number indicates you have CitiCar #117 built in June of 1974.? This is a new number to my master file.? However, I do have #118 and it also was a June built vehicle.? For program purposes, I will give this vehicle my C-Car Code of 74S-1117.? That VIN index chart you referenced is somewhat misleading at times as the serial number pattern changed in January of 1976.? ??The SV/48 is your model name which also indicates the voltage as 48 Volts DC.? ?This was the upgraded model from the earlier SV/36 which was the initial 36 Volt model.? Most 1974 and all of the 1975 built CitiCar’s fall into this model range.? You can find some more information on your CitiCar at the following URL’s.? ?
? If possible can you send me more information [on you, the car, & who you purchased it from] with a picture so I will add you to my Master file for the next update of the online Roster of owners and their C-Car’s.? If you have any questions or comments feel free to contact me.? Thank you for your time.? ? Peter Crisitello ? From: C-Car@... [mailto:C-Car@...]

Peter, thank you for the information and your work on the roster file. Here is some more information on the car and me:
Harry Armstrong Orlando, FL 32810 48 volt Color Yellow (it is currently painted gold but the original color was yellow and I plan to repaint it) Condition PR1 I'll roll it out of the garage and take a decent picture in a couple of days. |
开云体育Harry: ? Thank you for this information.? Your 1974 is the 356th C-Car in my master file, now.? Any information on the previous owner would help me for my archive file as well.? Also, the date you purchased it.? If you don’t mind sharing, could you tell me how much you purchased it for, to help with my Price guide information.? Thanks ? ? ? Peter Crisitello ? From: C-Car@... Sure, here is some more information:
- Previous Owner: Allan Weiner in Deland FL. - He said it was purchased and sold a number of time since it was last on the road - The last time it appears it was registered was in 1989 in Georgia. Plate number EFC-256. It appears the plate was used from 1983-1989, however who knows if it was on this car the whole time. - Other than the batteries and parking brake lever, it appears to be all there the best I can tell. - The body is in decent shape with only a couple of cracks in it. - I paid $900 for it on 3/18/18 I'll take some pictures this weekend.
