Re: How is the molding of a new front panel coming?

Mark i was wondering if anyone can give me some help. I have a 1980 comuta car and cannot figure out what the four big relays connected together are for. The car appears to have some sort of electronic control module perhaps a Curtis pwm.

Thank you.

Tap Plastics, , is a national company with
stocking warehouses around the company.

Be sure to look in your area for any other plastic supplier.

Finally there is McMaster-Carr. They stock everything. Might be a bit
more expensive but you'll for sure get it.

BTW, you don't want to add strips to the cut-out for the hood to lay on.
That leaves a wide-open path for rainwater to get in. Instead, you
want to add the strips to the piece you cut out and put a rubber seal on
the part that overlaps the front end piece. That way, when the hood is
shut, there is an integral water-tight seal around the opening.

Here is what I've done to make the rubber gasket. Coat and polish a
mold release around the front end opening. Then lay down a thick bead
of industrial silicone adhesive around the overlapping part. Press it
firmly in place and allow it to cure overnight. The next the silicone
rubber will pop off the release agent while the rubber is tightly bonded
to the hood.

You can get the adhesive and the recommended release agent from the same
source. I'd contact Dow first, followed by Loctite and lastly,
McMaster-carr.

The disc brakes used on the commuta were worse than the drum brakes.
They were adapted from a light single engine airplane and were almost
worthless on the citi/commuta. The upgrade back then was to replace the
discs with drum brakes.

three suggestions.

* check with a golf cart sales store to see if any of the modern carts
have disc brake assemblies that would fit. The mounting plate on the
car is a flat plate with 4 holes. Most anything that will mount to a
flat plate can be made to work, even if some drilling is required.

If you put good automotive brakes on the front, you may have to change
the master cylinder to a smaller bore and for sure will require a
proportioning valve for the rear brakes.

* Do like I was doing when I had to sell my car. I spent a couple of
days in my friend's NAPA stores going through paper catalogs looking for
a disc/caliper combo that could be adapted. The paper catalogs have
both isometric and dimensioned flat drawings.

It takes a lot of time because most of the sh*tbox cars that have
similar size wheels are FWD so the disc is a top-hat. Most of those
have drum rear brakes. My memory is getting so bad... We found a
suitable candidate. I'm sure it was a Ford and "Pinto" keeps popping up
when I think about it. My friend later had a heart attack and up and
died on me so I can't ask him.

* Find out what is the smallest racing brakes available from specialty
companies like Brembo. Expensive but maybe worth it if all else fails.

Stock stereo

Hi, regarding the stereo...
Was it a factory or dealer option?? Was there a standard brand or model used, or just random?
I have a rampage brand 2 post from the 90's that does the job, but I'd like something more accurate to the car.?

I don't need these, but I'm curious what you for sell this for?

Has anyone converted their Brakes to Disk Breaks?

Maybe you can point me to a kit to make this upgrade?

West coast the weather does not get that cold in most areas. In the warm areas it is not as important. Just a charge to keep it up every couple of months. It does not hurt to charge on auto. Just remember to check the fluid level in the batteries periodically.
