With the first pic that shows the wiper and the radio antenna, the vin tag would be under the windshield on the dash between the wiper blade and the antenna.

The ID tag [VIN plate] for both the CitiCar and the Comuta-Car are normally located on the top of the dash in front of the steering wheel [similar location to all of today¡¯s cars].? Looking in through the windshield you should see it down near the bottom.? If it is missing, than look for a paper tag attached to the side of the dash that can be viewed with the driver¡¯s door opened.? If both of these are missing, than remove the right side rear wheel and look for numbers engraved [etched into] the frame.? Depending on the year either the full number or the last four digits will be there.? 74, 75, and early 1976¡¯s should have the full number.? 1976 ? , ¡°A¡± model, and Comuta Car¡¯s should only have the last four digits engraved. [some 1979¡¯s may not have the correct number, though].? If you find only the last four digits, let me know and I should be able to figure out the full number.?

Your CitiCar should have the batteries under the seat.? The Comuta-Car should have battery boxes behind the front and back bumper.? This is the easy way to tell one from the other.?

Sure, here is some more information:

- Previous Owner: Allan Weiner in Deland FL.
- He said it was purchased and sold a number of time since it was last on the road
- The last time it appears it was registered was in 1989 in Georgia. Plate number EFC-256. It appears the plate was used from 1983-1989, however who knows if it was on this car the whole time.
- Other than the batteries and parking brake lever, it appears to be all there the best I can tell.
- The body is in decent shape with only a couple of cracks in it.
- I paid $900 for it on 3/18/18
I'll take some pictures this weekend.

Welcome to the group.? Your serial number indicates you have CitiCar #117 built in June of 1974.? This is a new number to my master file.? However, I do have #118 and it also was a June built vehicle.? For program purposes, I will give this vehicle my C-Car Code of 74S-1117.? That VIN index chart you referenced is somewhat misleading at times as the serial number pattern changed in January of 1976.? ??The SV/48 is your model name which also indicates the voltage as 48 Volts DC.? ?This was the upgraded model from the earlier SV/36 which was the initial 36 Volt model.? Most 1974 and all of the 1975 built CitiCar¡¯s fall into this model range.? You can find some more information on your CitiCar at the following URL¡¯s.?

?

?

If possible can you send me more information [on you, the car, & who you purchased it from] with a picture so I will add you to my Master file for the next update of the online Roster of owners and their C-Car¡¯s.?

If the 1117 in the VIN corresponds to the vehicle number, it doesn't jive with some of the information I have been able to obtain. I understand the 48 volts didn't start until car number 1501 (124SR1501). Also not sure why mine has the "64" in the VIN and others have "124".

Can anyone help with more information?

Also, does anyone on the list with a Citicar live in the Orlando, FL area? I would love to see another one to see what parts I am missing. Other than the batteries, the only thing I know I am missing is the parking brake lever.?

hI Peter,

I think NuJoesy would be a horrible place to do this. After all, who
wants to go there unless they have to.

There is a fabulous museum called the Floyd Garrett's Muscle Car Museum
in Sevierville,TN. He has a section set aside for quaint little cars
like the Izetta and some I've never heard of.

Sevierville would be an ideal place. Right off the interstate.
Millions of people pass through there every year on the way to
Gatlinburg, TN's huge tourist trap, and to the Smoky Mountains National
Park.

The guy originally built the museum to display his own collection. He's
expanded at least twice and is reported to have the largest collection
of muscle cars on display in America. He loves to display loaners.

http://www.musclecarmuseum.com/

This area is centrally located for traffic in the eastern US which is
why nearby Knoxville, TN is a huge transportation hum.

Re: citicar conversion

I'm all for whatever it takes for anyone to enjoy their citicar. Do it your way, just save your parts to help out another needy Citi.? Any driving Citi has to be better than one rotting away forgotten. If more than one gets saved in the process, that's great!

Motorcycle engines generally do not have reverse. Some atv/quad things might work.?
Lawnmower engines are usually vertical shaft which may be a pain.?
Adding a clutch pedal may prove difficult.
Rear end gearing is not great for gas.?
Adding a fuel tank will probably put it somewhere less than awesome.?
Gas engine may not prove legal on roads.?

If you go nuts I want to see a Mazda rotary in it. They are tiny, and cool, but not good on gas. Just a thought ;)

For me, there is no option besides electric, but I fit what the citicar was designed for just right. If I needed to go beyond it's range daily, I'd still want to enjoy my car too, and would be looking to extend is range.?

With that said, it seems easier to take the route of improving your electric range. I think it's your most viable option, unless you have a whole donor gas cart just sitting.?

But, do what you like. It's your car. I'll be cheering you on whatever you choose. Just do a good safe job, take lots of pictures, and enjoy it.?
