A productive few days here, superb photography locations on purpose-built mounds to shoot over the fence with the sun behind from mid-morning onwards. ¡®Cargodomb¡¯ for 13R arrivals and ¡®Spotterdomb¡¯ for 31R arrivals, both shown on Google maps. A car is necessary for these but there is a landside viewing deck at the terminal open 24 hours with good views of both runways. Right by the approach road is a superb museum featuring 2 IL-18s, Tu-134, Tu-154, 2 Yak-40s, 2 An-2s, 2 Let 410s, IL-14, Li-2 and oddly, a Cessna 500 Citation I.
Usual European fare to be seen here but there are some quality Chinese flights to be had. I would peg the number of movements at somewhere between Birmingham and Manchester. Steady, with occasional quiet spells. Seen over the five days:
