VARA Speeds IN and OUT of BPQ32 RMS

 

We have been doing some testing with VARA FM.? One station is running Winlink Express with VARA Wide on Windows 10.? I have a BPQ32 6.0.23.1 running on Windows 10 with VARA FM 4.2.3.??

When we send a message with an 18K attachment to a CMS through my RMS, we get speeds of 21000 bps.? If we receive the same message with attachment through the RMS it never goes faster than Level 1, i.e., 586bps.??

Both stations are running licensed VARA FM Wide with DRA-50 modems properly tuned.??

Any ideas why the difference between sending and receiving.?

Isn¡¯t FM9600 is setting a maximum speed limit in this config? It may be a suspect. I¡¯d remove it and see if it makes a difference.

That might suggest it in running unlicenced. Are you sure you are using the call that is registered?

With VARA HF you get a message in the status window showing if it is registered but I'm not sure if VARA FM does the same.

I am running a fully licensed VARA FM.? The license is for AF9W. The RMS call is AF9W-10.? The VARA FM says it is running Wide all the time except when someone connects using Narrow mode.? I am going to try this tomorrow with RMS Packet and Winlink P2P to see what happens.??

The licence check is applied to the calling station. Does the calling station have a licence?

Yes, the calling station is licensed The test was to have the calling station send a message with an 18K attachment which averaged 21K BPS. Then the message was forwarded to the calling station who used VARA FM to retrieve the message from the CMS which only ran at 566bps. More tests today if time permits.?
 

My apologies for taking up time on the list.? I cannot recreate the problem today.? All works as it should.? I hate it when something seems to go wrong and then I can't recreate it but we'll see down the road.? Thanks for everyone's input.??
