Newbie question

I have searched for the abilty to have Kiss AX25 interface on the RPi4 I just configured. In the JohnWiseman download directories there are files which are binary, not zipped. I am unsure how to proceed to execute or incorporate them to provide the link layer interface to a winlink program using an old Signal-link interface. I realize that I could do the whole thing in software but would like to understand how to employ? the piQtSoundModem binary.? There seems to be no docs to guide me.?
Any suggestions - pointers would be appreciated. I appreciate the UZ7HO software and it works great in windows with the above config.? I would simply like to use the RPi instead.?
?
thanks In advance.?

After downloading the binary you need to set it as executable. Then you can just run it with ./piQtSoundModem

You are likely to have to install the Qt5 runtime This should do it:

sudo apt-get install libqt5serialport5

If you are running on a 64 bit OS you may need to use piQtSoundModem64, and I suggest you use the latest Beta version from

Hi, John W.:

Thanks.
I am now running QtSoundMode64? (0.0.0.72) on a micro-laptop to an IC-7100.
Link is via Wi-Fi, so one less USB cable to worry about RFI. ;-)
BPQ/NODE/BBS runs on a Raspberry Pi 3B.
