Radio Antenna 9.9khz-181mhz Reusable for Malachite SDR Receiver TEF6686 Receiver | eBay

Has anyone tried one of these at VLF?

Hi Andy just a look at his attempt to specify the frequency range suggests he does not understand the technicalities of radio! after digging into the the eBay description I see the "antenna" is actually about 10cm in diameter. The sensitivity of a loop antenna is proportional to the area it encloses. Thus this will be approximately 75/1000ths of the sensitivity of the UKARA loop untuned! Any piece of metal applied to a aerial connector will receive something.? So even at the cheap price and possibly "other half" pleasing design I am sorry to to say, I would suggest it would be a disappointment.

Alan, with a couple (or more) ?of these space at the appropriate distance could one get the benefits of an ?array or do some nulling of interfering signals??

Hi Mike It all depends what frequency you are talking about. The phase difference derived from physical spacing is dependent on the wavelength. I would suggest a simple home-made loop of larger diameter (area) and cheaper, would give bigger signal to play with, but I suspect an LC phase shift network would still be necessary on LF. It is something to play with if you are interested in radio. :-))
