Re: Lead placed under muon detectors in coincidence mode
I couldn¡¯t find depleted uranium on ebay, so I¡¯ve ordered some Plutonium instead ¨C the sellers assure me it is very dense ¨C it was either that or Polinium! Sent: 30 December 2023 17:44 To:

Lead placed under muon detectors in coincidence mode
Having tried 1cm and 3cm of lead today, I now have all the lead I have under the detectors - not quite the 5cm I understand needed to completely isolate detectors from ground-sourced muons but does

Re: Muon detectors and lead
Thanks Andrew. I have 3kg of lead. Just finished first test - ca. 1cm lead = no distinguishable change in muon rate today from before lead used (0.140 to 0.134 but I doubt that I significant). Next

Re: Muon detectors and lead
It will depend how thick it is! If it is only a thin sheet, I would expect the detection rate to increase. Sent: 29 December 2023 13:34 To: [email protected]; [email protected] Subject:

Muon detectors and lead
I have just obtained some scrap lead and placed it under the LRO muon detectors to see what difference if any this makes to detection rates. Andy Sent from Outlook for Android<https://aka.ms/AAb9ysg>

Re: Muon Detector Rate
Andy, I did a quick and dirty calculation on a short file produced by my CRD. I am probably getting a rate of about 0.04 events/second, which is a bit less than I expected, but that rate has been
