Atlas 10 TV36 4 step Drive Pulley

Good evening folks.

I acquired this Atlas 10 TV36 lathe last year. Not had much time to put it to use but I bought it because it was in good condition and within my area (it is hard to have equipment send via pallet where I live).
My main use would be for turning sockets for various jobs I do in mild steel.?

I'm new to this type of machine and need to be able to adjust the speed. However, as you can see from the pictures, there is only a single drive pulley.

I was told from another owner that I'm looking for a 19mm (3/4) bore keyway 150/125/100/75mm.

Would someone be able to inform me if this is correct, and if so, are there an UK based suppliers where I can purchase one?

Thanks for you time
Steve

You can search for 10F parts as they are the same as your lathe.?
The V stands for vertical location of the motor shaft.?
Search EBay is the best option.?

Yes, unless there is enough adjustment in the countershaft to allow sliding the drive pulley to the next pulley size then maybe there should be a 3 size pulley on the countershaft, no?

Are you 3 phase ? What is the motor voltage ? If it's a 3 phase motor I'd look into putting a VFD on it , that gives ya variable speed at the twist of a knob . There's also the tread mill motor rout & that also gives ya variable from a knob .

I will look in my lathe file and see if I have the 10F parts catalog, then I can send you the part number you need.?
Do you have any literature for your new toy?

You need the Atlas 10-80 countershaft pulley.?
This is used on all 10” and 12” lathes from Atlas or Craftsman.?

IIRC, the Acorn is a copy of the Atlas lathes. You might be able to get the correct pulley, which as another poster has said, is a 10-80. I didn't find any on ebay.co.uk, but there are a couple in the US, that you might be able to get shipped to you. Couldn't tell you what it would cost for shipping. Also, the part number might be different if those are available. Didn't see anything for the Acorn lathe at all.?

Not seeing a drawing in the files section for that pulley, either. My Atlas is in pieces, I could possibly get dimensions for you if you think you could tackle making your own.?

Hi Jim

I will see what I can source from ebay, now that I know what I am looking for.

I got a few bits of tooling but no literature about the lathe from the previous owner.?

Thanks for the reply!

Hi Mike

It's a single phase AC 550w motor RPM 1425
My workshop is only single phase, and I've never had the pleasure of having a motor with a VFD to understand how those things work.

Thanks
Steve

Hey Brian

That's what I thought as well. The pulley does move but the belt is far too tight and won't lock if it is at any other position apart from the one shown in the picture.?

A 3 or 4 step would seem to be ideal to give me some level of speed adjustment.?

Cheers
Steve

Thanks for having a search, Bill.

Shipping from the US to UK can be, interesting. Might be cheaper to find someone who could produce the pulley for me.
Definitely out of my skill range at this point in time.

Much appreciated.
Steve

There are VFDs available for single > three phase use.

Pulleys are a real good first project . Ya can make then one at a time & just hold them next to each other with the set screws on the shaft .

Hey Mike

Didn't even cross my mind that a work around could be single pulleys of the required sizes just screwed together.
I'll take a look at the YT link as well.?

Genius, thank you!
Steve

Steve,

I had a look at your webpage and instagram. Beautiful work. I especially like those gates shown on your page, and the prize winning scale on insta.
Bravo,
Bryan
