v belt from counter shaft to main spindle

 

hi all does the v belt go in front of behind or round the backgear shaft on a vertical atlas 10"

The issue i am having is if i have the backshaft in front, behind or through the belt the belt rubs on the shaft either when the back gears are engaged or when they aren't.? Ill try post some pics of the issue later on depending when i get home.

It sounds like something isn't set up correctly. The belt should not be that close to the back gear shaft. Here are a couple quick pics of mine.

thanks for the pics what happens if you engage the back gears or is the pic with the back gears engaged
 

Picture is too close for me to see how the motor is mounted. I'd like to see it from the left end.

The back gear shaft moves a small amount toward the belt but never close enough to touch when engaged.
 

morning all sorry for the delay in getting back but life and work get in the way sometimes.?
?
This is weird I thought i had got rid of the bemuda triangle effect that defies physics etc that seems to follow me around.? Went out to the garage yesterday to have another go at this issue to see if there was any adjustment in the frame took the frame off gave it a talking to (turned the air blue) put it back on and the bloody backgear shaft now clears the belt so god knows what the issue was.
