Community Asian Theatre of the Sierra (CATS) enters its 31st season with the enchanting mystical production of?Where the Mountain Meets the Moon, a play adapted by Jeannine Coulombe from Grace
Lin¡¯s bestselling Newbery Honor Book.??It is directed by Allison Chan, in memory and honor of her mother, Lisa Moon, Artistic Director of CATS.??The show will play at the Nevada Theatre, from April 17 to May 10, 2025, and tickets may be purchased online at?.
This magical story of a young girl, who sets off on a journey to seek a better life for her impoverished family, is greeted along the way by mystical creatures, like a dragon, a goldfish, monkeys and lions, and The Man of the Moon. Their adventures open up
a cultural epic of discovery and artistry in ancient China.??The theme of gratitude promises to be a ¡°feast for the senses¡± with lavish costumes, original music, puppetry, and ¡°wondrous mountains¡±.??The play is appropriate for all ages; a perfect show for
the whole family!??In addition to director Allison Chan, the creative team includes Teresa Shea, set designer; Tynowyn Woolman, composer and sound designer; Les Solomon, lighting designer; Jill Kelly, costume designer; Sara Quay, hair and makeup designer;
Hank Meyer, properties designer; and Audrey Delgado, lead puppeteer.
