In 1817, the Ojibwe, Odawa, and Bodewadami Nations made the largest single land transfer to the University of Michigan. This was offered ceremonially as a gift through the Treaty at the Foot of the Rapids so that their children could be educated. As usual, let me know if you want more information. And, also as usual, I'm glad to share the lists with people looking for librarian positions. There are a lot of postings, and relatively few librarians looking for positions on this list. At least as far as I know. Jennifer Jennifer Dye 734-709-8502 http://www.linkedin.com/in/DyeJennifer

libraries falling prey to AI-generated junk titles
I know that I was duped into buying some books that were compiled Wikipedia entries, several years ago. I think I'm doing a better job of screening those out now. Not involved in selecting ebooks. It sounds like it is even worse there. https://www.404media.co/ai-generated-slop-is-already-in-your-public-library-3/?utm_source=firefox-newtab-en-us Jennifer Jennifer Dye 734-709-8502 http://www.linkedin.com/in/DyeJennifer

URGENT - Help/Advise - Sewer Line Froze 9
Hi, all, I just popped into the basement to check on the laundry, and found water backing up from all three of the floor drains that go to the outside line. That suggests to me that the pipe froze outside. I phoned Roto-Rooter, and they will call back in the morning. My question is what to do in the meantime. I assume, stop running water (except for the one sink with a pipe on an outside wall). I read on the internet to run hot water, but I think that could backfire if the ice plug is outside the house. Does anyone have experience with something like this? THANK YOU! /PF -- PF Anderson, pfa@... Gray Panthers of Washtenaw?? 3
Hi all¡ª I was just reading How to Retire Happy, Wild, and Free. Fortunately, for me, I¡¯m actually following most of the advice that the author gives in this book. One of the things that the book recommends is joining the Gray Panthers. So, I search for ¡°gray panthers Ann Arbor¡± and found this ArborWiki page. It has a link to a website, but unfortunately, that website seems to be long gone. There¡¯s also a link to Gray Panthers of Washtenaw records, 1979-2011 in the Bentley Library, but as the name implies, it seems to have ceased operations in 2011. So, my question is whether anyone knows if the group is still around? Did they possibly merge with the Gray Panthers of Metro Detroit, which still seems to be quite active? Regards, Dan

Oops...screen 3
Asking for some advice. I dropped my 11-in tablet and there's a small one inch portion of the bezel that has shattered but the rest of the screen is good it still works fine the touch screen still functions. So my question is, is there a tape or an epoxy or some other simple solution to patch it up and keep it from getting worse? Thanks Yahoo Mail: Search, Organize, Conquer

some information
All, Following some of the conversations at the last Wednesday get together I thought to share some 'researches' i have conducted over the last few months. Getting older I have become more concerned about finances as I age. One of my major concerns is about the cost of Long Term Care [or LTC] as the industry calls it as I get older and have negative health issues. There are / have been / traditional LTC policies which are expensive and require ongoing payment of premiums. What I have learned is that are less expensive alternatives for LTC. * There are Life Insurance policies with an LTC rider; these provide additional payouts in the event that one requires some form of assistance at some point in life [caregiver, facility, etc.]. Essentially, in exchange for a [in my case a one-time] premium the policy provides both a death benefit [so my estate does not lose the value of the paid premium] as well as payments for LTC that could potentially add up to 2.5 to 3.5 times my initial premium. So essentially I lose the possible asset growth for the money I paid in the premium in exchange for coverage of extraordinary costs if I need LTC. * There are also Life Insurance policies that provide for early payout of the death benefit if one is diagnosed with a terminal disease, allowing one to pay for treatments or other extraordinary expenses before death. * Also there are Annuity instruments with an LTC rider that again provide for full recovery of the initial premium and also provide for additional payments for LTC up to 2 or 3 times the initial premium. All of these options have tons of rules about how, what, when, where etc. that need to be fully investigated. I was ignorant of these options and am sharing this in the event that some of our community may find this useful. I think that age 60-65 is an appropriate time to begin investigating.
