DPL librarian positions
While there are no librarian positions posted on the website, I spoke with one of the directors yesterday who said that HR is working hard to hire more librarians. We're having a wave of retirements, including the assistant manager at my branch. Packrat that I am, I have saved copies of several postings, though possibly not all levels. If you, or someone else, is interested, I'd be glad to forward postings. And I'll mention again the posting for Technical Training Associate and Customer Service Representative (20 hour per week, entry level). https://detroitpubliclibrary.org/about/careers I've griped about DPL, but no more than I have about previous positions I've held. Backyard Concert this Friday 7/26
You are all invited to a backyard concert on Henry Street at the Packard end, featuring Chloe Kimes. That block of Henry will be closed, and food trucks will be available for dinner and dessert. Bring your own chair and your beverage of choice. Suggested ticket price is $20/person -- proceeds go to the artist. Venmo @APlevek (or use the QR code on the poster). See attached poster for more info. (I have no association other than being a neighbor and wanting to support this sort of thing. Unfortunately, I will not be there, as I will be "working" at the Summer Beer Fest in Ypsilanti.) =Spencer

Fw: free eye exams for students ages 4-21
Forwarding this again because the first program at my branch is tomorrow (July 24). The second had to be cancelled because the doctor had a conflict. The age limits apply, but this is NOT limited to people in Detroit. Again, other branches have the program on other dates. Will gladly help with finding a convenient one, but don't want to inundate the list. It is definitely not limited to students in Detroit, so you might consider it if you are in a reasonable distance. If you want more information, let me know and I will send the flyer that will give you the links to make an appointment. My branch is scheduled on July 24 and 31. Obviously, I want to increase the traffic at my branch, but I realize that other dates and other areas of Detroit may be more convenient for individuals. Technical Training Associate position at DPL
TTAs are front-line in solving tech problems for branches and departments in the Detroit Public Library system. The 'training' component does scare some off; TTAs need to train co-workers and customers in technology. I've been at DPL for over 15 years, and would be glad to answer any questions. I don't find the posting on DPL's website, so let me know if you are interested, and I'll forward the Word doc. Jennifer Jennifer Dye 734-709-8502 http://www.linkedin.com/in/DyeJennifer

After Dark: The Mi-Sci Games
I'm on a mailing list for programs at the Michigan Science Center. This coming Saturday, July 27, they offer their After Dark program, which is 21+. (I believe that that is so they don't need to consider the safety issues for minors, but frankly don't know). This month's theme is (surprise) the Olympics. After Dark: The Mi-Sci Games After Dark: The Mi-Sci Games | Michigan Science Center Save the date for an unforgettable evening of Olympic-sized fun at After Dark: The Mi-Sci Games on Saturday, Jul... They also offer late night programs on the first Friday of the month. Jennifer Jennifer Dye 734-709-8502 http://www.linkedin.com/in/DyeJennifer

2013 Brother MFC 9130CW has issues, new toner cartridges to donate 4
Hello All, I am assisting a 95 year old friend with donating his 2013 Brother MFC 9130CW that is not working properly to a group who may benefit from it. He has brand new toner cartridges that would also be donated. It had been working properly up until just recently. Please email me if you/your group would be interested. As a former teacher, it seems like a great project for kids to learn about printer repair. Susette Jaquette Brother MFC 9130CW https://www.brother-usa.com/products/mfc9130cw
