A1G Building Kits

This was always one of my favorite kits to add to what ever layout I was building at the time. Though you had to allow enough real estate as the kit had one very large foot print.

I've owned the same kit in at least two different colours, one with red bricks and pale grey roof, the other with pink bricks and a dark grey-green roof. The later was left on my layout when we sold our house over 2 decades ago, but I think I may still have the first one (sans original box) in storage somewhere. If the pic goes through, you can just see (without the smokestack) it behind the CN switcher.CV RS11 3603

If not, try:

Here is a fairly recent photo of my current layout which has almost all of the original Atlas structures on it plus old Con-Cor, Revell, AHM, Bachmann, Heljan, etc. plus a few scratchbuilt ones:

I meant for the image to appear in the post but...maybe too large? Anyway, it is the attachment.

Great picture Doug,

and seeing your Atlas Factory, I realize that the kit I had was different. The side extension was only on one side, and the doors for railway access were only on one end, while I see i this photo that the doors appear to be at both ends.

I was pretty sure those were Atlas buildings, but I could be wrong. The building did come with a smokestack, and it could be attached to the building or not.

Cheers,

Martin

Thanks Martin and the factory color is a bit misleading in the picture because it looks white, which it almost is. Actually, it's brick colored but the mortar lines are so wide that when I filled them in with white, it kind of makes the whole surface look white in a photograph. The roof is a medium gray, the windows, a lighter gray, and the fillers around the windows, tan.
?
It's kind of the same with the machine shop.

Wondering what it would take to have Doug add some ground cover to his layout -- this is a crossover from a thread "on another network."

Maybe we can all chip in and get him a genuine vintage Life-Like brand Grass Mat :)

Believe it or not, I actually have been recently considering at least doing just that which is a fairly major step for me. Some of the track is ballasted now but I ran out of ballast that's the same color as Floquil boxcar red.

Just need some grass and dirt.
