Re: Where in the Genealogy do these cars fit in?
Kind of sound as the cars are not 1st generation. None of the first generation were made in the U.S. though the inserts state other wise. Atlas later did for a short while manufactured both track and freight cars here before moving that operation to China. Now it's completely possible that Atlas may of had some older inserts and used these on runs that were manufactured here.I'm thinking Atlas did their American run sometime during the 80's but unsure exactly what year. The other thing that is possible if you got these cars second hand some where that a unscrupulous seller used different parts to make up a car and try to pass that off as A1G? Something we all have have to watch out for.

Where in the Genealogy do these cars fit in?
Any thoughts about what generation the following cars should be in?? #2490: Western Fruit Express, road number 7958? #2491: ART Wabash/N&W? #2492: Canadian Pacific? The three cars have the old White Atlas/Rivarossi "made in Italy" inserts with the date of 1-1970.? The car floors are marked "Atlas U.S.A.¡±? The bodies are what Atlas is still using today for their mechanical reefer.? The roof walks and brake wheels are black, just like the older Atlas cars.? With the date of 1-1970 this places these cars just before the Roco, Super Tank Car.? They are not listed in the Atlas 1972 catalog but they are in the 71/72 Atlas/Rivarossi catalog, a copy is on file in the File section. Michael Bishop |
Re: A1G Locomotives Questions from 'Down Under'
hi, this is difficult as you want a very long three axle truck on the rear.? ? looking at the plans of the real thing n George Elwoods Fallen Flags site: ? ? what you need is a mech with 31' truck centres and a 9'4" lead truck.? The one that has this arrangement will be the RS1.? Then you've somehow got to transplant a truck from a PA1 or an Erie Built into where the rear truck goes on the RS1 mech, keeping the same truck centre ... so the middle axle should be at the midpoint of where the current rear truck is on the RS1.?i don't know if this can be done, mind ... it might be easier to have either the front or rear truck as?a dummy as two and three axle gear towers may be different heights. you may find the older Lifelike PA with the plastic chassis a? bit easier as it is probably easier to shorten. good luck as this is not an easy one. ? ? ben |

I have seen parts on E Bay: Use N Scale,?Atlas and N scale, Rivarossi?in the search along with?N gauge or vintage N gauge or OOP N gauge. Also make sure to click the world wide radio search button to expand the search options. Hope that this might help. Michael Bishop On Saturday, February 8, 2014 4:39 PM, "gji@..." wrote:

Re: Fence #2814

I have uploaded a picture of the white fence and the green fence, not able to find the brown fence photo. I think that Preiser made the fencing for Atlas, Preiser had a fence kit #9551 which had all three colors plus what looks like an iron fence. I kind of think the fences came together in one box in the same manner as the Accessory set did with the crates, barrels and lumber being molded in 3 different colors. I could be wrong but it just seems to make more sense that the fences were sold that way. ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ?

In terms of the fence, my mind's not clear on the subject, but I have been seeing a number of these fence packs on eBay-- all green so far-- and the rather high prices that these packs are getting.? I'm seeing relatively high prices?on?other brands of fence as well-- I'm not sure why.

There do appear to be different styles of fence in the Atlas package based on the images with the eBay listings.?? I suspect, but haven't confirmed, that this was another "import" as the structure kits were.

Re: Fence #2814
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýI'm sorry I can't answer your question, Michael. I either never knew or
don't remember which way they appeared. I never bought any of the fence but I
see the illustration in the 1972 catalog shows different styles of fence. Were
the different styles all the same color in one box?
?
Also, I'm trying to approve your ore car photos but I keep getting an
error. Maybe George will see this and give it a try.

Fence #2814
Atlas offered a fence set #2814, which was always listed as #2814 in the catalog. But the fences came in three colors; green, brown and white. What I am trying to find out is, did they come out all together?or was one color released then after awhile in an other color? I seem to?remember seeing all three of?them at the hobby shops?at the same time. Thanks for any help. Michael Bishop |

?
I will wait the information about the cost and the postal fees and, as soon as I know, I will send money throught PayPal, please help me to find the PayPal fee that they charge in order that I add to the payment.

Have a nice week.

Actually, that car is covered on George's A1G site and he gives estimated
values. That particular car is not all that rare and so I would just ask a
reasonable price for it.
