Re: Atlas car cases

Was this something Atlas did or some else? Michael Bishop Those are the very early RoCo cars and they are Atlas. These lasted until early 1968 (maybe even as early as late 1967) when Atlas began using the paper inserts. First with the car info on one end only and then both ends. There should also be clear plastic spacers to hold the car into position in the box present. I think there are some pictures of these in the photo section of the Yahoo N scale group. Doug |

T Meserole
It is probably a custom special run done for some group.

Has done 6 different Blatz beer cars: The original cars were product number 2224 and came out in the late 1960s. Both of those two had road number 27107 and were plug door steel reefers. I do not know which came first. Yes, one had red ends and roof and the other one had black ends and roof. Then starting in 2002, Atlas release 2 more Blatz cars and these were hinge door wood ice reefers. In 2009 they released another 2 hinge door wood ice reefers labeled for Blatz. These last 4 cars all have unique road numbers. Tom in Kansas Whose wife collects beer cars On Tue, Jul 30, 2013 at 8:05 PM, MIKE <goldrod_1@...> wrote:

Re: Roco #2261 Gulf tank car
My Gulf car is like Michael's, it has no railings, just the ladders. The other RoCo cars have railings but they are just on the sides and there isn't any platform around the dome.
The position of the brake wheel and shaft on my Gulf car is also different from the others. It's on the left instead of the right with the wheel toward you. My otherwise identical Life-Like Gulf car has railings and a platform that encircles the dome. Doug |

Bob,
I have not run into a 2262, 2263 or 2264 with out the railings. I know that the 2265 thru 2268 have the full cage around the dome, but these were by Rivarossi. Check out ? in the photos of the tank cars the Gulf does not have railing while others do. Does this mean that there were two styles for both cars? Thanks for the info. ? Michael, I just checked my tank cars. Those numbered 2261 thru 2264 have no railing. Numbers 2265 thru 2268 have the railing. After the first four cars they must have decided to add the railing. old bachmann N&W J 4-8-4 (pre spectrum)
hi all
i realise this is not an atlas nor first generation but i hope it doesn't stretch the rules too much. please reply to me privately so that the friendship isn't stretched too far. i am wondering if anyone has one or even two N&W J locos they don't need and would be willing to part with? i imagine they would be just about inoperable now due to split gears, but i am only after them for the 10mm driving wheels so junk condition is fine. as long as the driving wheels are there and in good nick, nothing else matters. these locos hailed from 1988, coming in either the bachmann 'white box' of the era or a larger 'limited edition' yellow box with a cover flap. regards, benjamin |
