All, we took advantage of the nice day and started installing the Meshtastic Repeaters on Signal Hill and the Indian Prairie Schoolhouse towers. The early results are fantastic! So, both repeaters are able to mesh with each other. In addition, I’m able to hit the repeaters from Pacific, Villa Ridge, Hwy 50 and I-44, East Central College, Hwy 47 and Hwy V, all high points along Hwy V to Hwy 100, HWYs V & T @ Hwy 100, and all high points until the descent into Labadie. We plan to get a repeater installed in Augusta and St. Clair. We have a test repeater installed in Sullivan, but not at it’s final resting place. Long story short, this has proved to be far more reliable than we had anticipated. Big shout out to Jeff who climbed two towers today to make this project a reality. 73 de Jim K0JNR

All, Franklin County ARES is incorporating VARA-FM and VARA-HF into our toolkit. As such, a need for a licensed version of VARA is important as it unlocks greater through-put, but also allows for digipeating. However, we are making this available to Non-ARES members as well. I’ve negotiated a discount with the VARA Team to get licenses for $55. A savings of $14 over the standard price of $69. This is a one-time discount, if I can get 10 or more people to commit. Sorry, for those already purchased a license, this does not help you. Let me know, if you are interested and I will compile a list to see what we can do. This is a great deal and a one-time purchase. Folks, I'll be sending to your email a copy of the new liability insurance policy for your review. Please read it and get back with me with your thoughts about the policy as it is. The price for it this year is $599 vs $323 from last year. Does anyone have a copy of the flyer for the Zerobeaters hamfest coming up this August? Ron Smith brought this up to me and said he puts the flyers out on his table at the Winterfest at the end of this month. If someone has it or can update it with the current information I can print a few copies to have at the Winterfest or if someone has copies, please get in touch with me so we can get some for the Winterfest. Sunday the 10th will be the first breakfast club breakfast at the school house. You don't need to bring anything but a appetite. We will be having biscuits n gravy, coffee, and orange juice. Everyone, Just a reminder that 2024 dues will be coming due soon. I will be collecting dues at the Christmas Party as in the past. This is a convenient time to pay them as it comes before the January meeting. I also wanted to mention that we have quite a few members who are behind on their dues. The heat at the school house is now fixed thanks to Bruce#1. He and Jackson got it up and running. Big thanks to you 2 guys. The toilet is not clogged but still not flushing properly. It will need a little more work. A great big special thanks to the elfs that got the septic tank pumped out. I know that was not a fun job but needed to be done.
