April meeting location 6
Everyone, The Washington Public library is going to be closed Wednesday April 5th and Thursday April 6th because of a new fire alarm system being installed, so that means that we cannot have our April meeting there on Wednesday the 5th. Does anyone have any idea where to have the meeting? Mark Arnold checked with the Union Public library and they do not have anything available for the 5th. We could have it at the schoolhouse but there is always the chance we will have rain and the ground will be soft. Lets hear some ideas. 73, Bruce N0XNH

March 1, 2023 Zero Beaters meeting 8
Hello Zero Beaters, This months meeting will be held at the Washington Library at 7pm on Wednesday, March 1. There will be an abbreviated business meeting from 7:00 to 7:15 pm. After the business meeting we will have an hour long zoom presentation by John Portune, W6NBC. John is a retired broadcast engineer, has written articles for QST and presents many talks on various amateur radio topics. John's presentation is on baluns and ununs. Many hams would like to learn how to select a torroid and wind it to make a 1:1, 4:1 or 9:1 balun or unun. The well-know radio books all seem confusing. This presentation shows the three very easy steps to successful ferrite toroid design with very little math and a free on-line calculator. Hope to see you there! 73, Al, KA0VIA

70cm Repeater Status 3
If it is not already known, there may be an issue with the 444.350 repeater. I do not know all the proper terminology, but it sounds like it is in a loop. Can anyone confirm? Thanks, John - KF?IFU

tape measure Yagi antenna build project 14
Hello ZBARC members, During the February 1 meeting six members signed-up for the antenna build project. The antenna to be built will be a yagi that can be used for fox hunting and other amateur uses. If you did not sign up at the meeting on February 1 then please respond to this email and let me know if you want to build an antenna with the group. I will wait a few days for additional sign-ups then I will move forward with purchasing the material. See the attachment for a drawing of the antenna. The antenna build will take place on Sunday afternoon Feb 19 at the club house. Thanks and 73!, Al J, KA0VIA

Parks on the Air (POTA) 16
I know this is late notice, but I just decided to do this. I am going over to Robertsville State Park around 1:30 and set up for POTA activation. If one of the pavilions is open, that is where I will be. If not, I will find an open picnic table and be there. Thanks Curt - KF0CQN

2023 Christmas dinner survey 5
Everyone, After last nights February meeting, several of us were talking about the Christmas dinner for 2023 and decided instead of waiting until the March meeting to discuss it I would send out a survey for the 2023 Christmas dinner location so maybe we can schedule it for the first Sunday in December as has been done in the past. We have come up with two choices; the first is The Creek, where we had it this past January, the second is Colton's Steak House in Washington. The Creek does not charge for the room and we would have to order from the catering menu like we did last time. That is we have a few choices for each of these items, salad, meat/fish and vegetable. You get to pick one salad and two each from the meat/fish and vegetable items. Colton's does not charge for the room and we would be able to order off the regular menu. If you've been to Colton's, they would seat us in the area to the left (east side) of the building. Let me know what you think and I will contact whoever we pick and see if that would be available. The sooner we contact them, the better chance we have of getting it the first Sunday in December. 73, Bruce N0XNH
