Fusie (nogmaals)

Iets vir Bernhard om te geniet.

Lyk my hulle kom nog by die neutron probleem.

Not on my watch, soos hulle sê

Ek weet Mantashe hou nie daarvan nie en beter oplossings is skynbaar net om die draai, maar my sonpanele bly maar waar hulle is.

That website trades in hype rather than facts.? It starts by describing the 210 MWe Noor Midelt 1 solar project as

The largest renewable energy project in history?

while both India and China have solar + wind projects exceeding it by an order of magnitude (over 2 GWe). And a renewable hydro project of around 20 GWe in China may be superceded by an even bigger one planned for Tibet.

Likewise, the title

We could now produce infinite energy

(from fusion) hardly deserves comment.? It claims that "the?Small Aspect Ratio Tokamak (SMART)?represents a?significant step forward", while my own former student John Fletcher had worked with others at Pelindaba on such a SMART reactor in the 1980s or thereabouts.? The only new aspect of this tokamak is negative triangularity, which would make the so-called "spherical" tokamak cylindrical rather than spherical.

The whole concept of "Fusion2Grid strategy" can only be described as wishful thinking (or hype) when no earthbound fusion system has done better than deliver about 10^-9 of the energy taken from the grid back into the grid.
