is there a recording of 4/29 SVYCS presentation on Juristac

开云体育

Alexii, Steven, Julisia, Helen and Priyanka,

I tuned it to the link to watch your Juristac presentation, but the connection was very choppy - on both my Mac with Safari and our Samsung with Chrome. ?Hope the link went well for other people.

Is there a recording of the presentation? ?Looking forward to seeing it in full ;o)

Regarding the upcoming zoom meeting tonight to discuss the Juristac live stream, I'm listing a few points that might be covered.? Not an agenda, really.? This meeting is to figure out how things will fit together--and to see what new questions might pop up.

1.)? Agree on a program outline.? (Presentation on Juristac, then interview?)

2.)? Decide how much specifically scripted material is necessary.

3.)? Start deciding on a list of 'main points' that definitely should be covered during the interview portion.? If asking questions to interviewees, figure out a good order to ask the questions in to advance the issue in a seemingly natural progression.

4.)? Decide how slides and other multimedia should be incorporated into the program.? Do we want specific slides on hand that could be brought on-screen when an interviewee is describing a particular point?? Can we play the short Juristac film, or would that just be a distraction?? Play snippets of footage from the Walk for Juristac?

5.)? Decide if we want to push the Petition via Action Network or other means, since this presentation will be seen by a national audience.? Do we want to ask YCS'ers from across the country to plug and sign the petition?

6.)? Decide if larger issues surrounding Juristac aside from the quarry should be mentioned at all.

7.)? Decide just how much time will be devoted to Protect Juristac and how much time will be devoted to the Tribe's history.

8.)? Decide who will do the interviewing, who will do the speaking.

Feel free to add any other issues you think might be relevant.

Topics for Tonight's Zoom Meeting

Since I have not received much feedback regarding the best time to meet, I just blocked-off the hours between 2:00 PM and 6:00 PM tomorrow (Sunday, April 26).? Based on some feedback, it seems that 4:00 PM might work as a start time for a < 30 minute meeting.

Please let me know if you can attend, or if that time does not work for you.

what an incredible presentation!? You all covered a lot of information and your mutual respect and building off each other’s perspectives was so well done. ?

I agree with Lou, this program has so much to offer - in building more realistic framing of Mutsun history over thousands of years and the real impacts of colonization; and framing right-allyship so well at the end.? Such a range of knowledge and perspectives among you - so glad I was able to see most of it. ?

I'm writing with regard to next week's live stream presentation on Juristac, to be aired nationally via US Youth Climate Strike's live stream system.

Personally, I see several reasons why this presentation might turn out to be one of the most important yet made.?
1.)? It could immediately tie-in with nationwide efforts to encourage young people to show solidarity with Indigenous Peoples where they live.? This would include showing solidarity for protecting sacred sites.
2.)? It will address Juristac to a nationwide audience.
3.)? It could provide an excellent educational resource for teachers to make use of locally and regionally.? A great example of peer-to-peer communication.

For those reasons and others, I personally believe that the overall presentation might benefit from review given via multiple individuals.? To this end, I would like to utilize the?[email protected] to list a read-only link to the yet-to-be-created slideshow for the presentation.? Currently, this list includes the following people:
Jamie Minden (SVYCS)
Colleen Cabot (SBIS)
Michelle Glowa (AMLT)
Mimi Spreadbury (SBIS/SVYCS)
Emma Hartung (SBIS)
Stven Pratt (AMTB)
Priyanka Joshi (SVYCS)
Megan Fluke (GF)
Annie Jacob (SVYCS)
Helen Deng (SVYCS)
Lou Chiaramonte (SBIS)
in addition, Val, Alexii and Cat were sent invites

I would also suggest that we have a short zoom meeting tomorrow to discuss some of the specific logistics, to make the most out the presentation.? Alexii, and/or Steven, and/or Julisa will have no problems speaking to this important issue--especially with Val's guidance.? Rather, the zoom call could focus on specific logistics, like how best to make use of slides; ensuring that important subject areas are not overlooked; delegating any remaining tasks or roles; etc.? Not everyone would have to be on it.

Any thoughts?

Folks - share this with your own networks to help more people connect --

Here is another chance to view the film? The Condor and The Eagle, along with Indigenous Youth
Saturday 5-8pm PST,?
film probably going until 6:45 and discussion following

When the indigenous people of the South/the Condor unite with the people of the North/Eagle, the human relations with the earth will be changed.

I don’t know if this screening will be better than past experiences, but the discussion following the movie involves elder Ponca woman Casey Camp-Hornek along with three indigenous youth and one latino woman, so hang in there - TIPS follow below to maintain connection.

Tips to maintain connection during the film:
The film producers are having trouble with their web links, so past viewings have been choppy and difficult.
During the film, if the HD link blinks out, go back to the webinar. ?If that has trouble, click on the RECONNECT button at the top left corner.
If you can’t maintain the connection for the film, check back into the webinar about 6:30pm ?for the discussion.

NOTE on the FILM’S mission - Unitarian Ministry for the Earth has worked with the film producers Clement and Sophie Guerra to make this film, move it to online distribution with several beta screenings, and offer it as a vehicle to highlight indigenous involvement in climate change activism. ?The film is being premiered during Earth Week, and the longterm goal is to use it as an organizing tool to focus on local indigenous efforts and organize support for them.
