"Sounds good to me," Gen said, following after Akira. "Actually, I was created by a whole team of someones," he went on, shrugging slightly.? "Scientists, mostly.? I was intended to be used for planetary exploration, and so designed to be able to function in a number of extreme environments and conditions.? Different atmospheres, different gravities... I can even breathe underwater if I need to." The androgyne looked around the hallway as they walked.? "I can show you some stuff here, if you want."? With that, he stopped and took off his shoes and socks and then focused for a moment causing his hands and feet to change along his palms and soles.? He then began climbing up the flat surface of the wall like an enormous gecko.? "Useful for getting around, no?"

Akira listened to Gen, extremely fascinated by what the lad was telling him. "Breathe underwater, that's cool. Oh, that won't be...." He was about to say necessary when Gen suddenly started literally climbing the wall. "...okay, but you can get down now. You don't have to prove anything to me. But, yeah that is pretty cool." He glanced around and saw a few of the students who hadn't made to their classes staring at the boy hanging on the wall. "You really need to get down now."

?(Roddy) ?"Yeah, kind of.? Misty kind of walked me past it, enough to get a quick look.? Not bad, I guess, if you're going for Student Dorm Basic.? Still beats some of the places I've ended up in.? Have you picked which bed or bunk you wanna claim?? I mean, since you were here first and all." He paused in thought for a moment, then asked "Uhm, you don't snore or sleepwalk or anything weird, do ya?"

"I have been here a few years now. I have the bed closets to the window. I rise with the sun." He chuckled, "not sure about snoring, I am asleep. As for sleepwalking, not to my knowledge. At least I haven't ever woke up outside of my bed. Yeah, I don't care for a bunch of clutter. Like to keep it simple."

"Oh.? Sorry," Gen said, quickly dropping back to the floor and landing on his bare feet.? "I just wanted to... you know... fit in?"? He fumbled about awkwardly, slipping his socks and shoes back on, self-conscious at the stares he was getting from other students in the hallway.? "My social skills aren't the greatest.? Comes from growing up in a lab 'n all.? I mean, I'm learning, but people are still kind of... strange to me."? He smiled sheepishly.? "I've met more people in the last few weeks than I have in the all the time I was in the lab."

"You got any family?" he asked after a moment, looking over with open curiosity.? "Any of them mutants like you?"

Akira gave Gen a smile, "well, there's fitting in then there is showing off and around here, you really don't want to be showing off. In fact, I wouldn't tell anyone else, except for Ms. Mia and Ms. Del how you came to be. Others will find you trying to push into the mutant society, but you really aren't truly a mutant...not in the sense of others around here." He continued to lead the lad to the cafeteria. Soon the smell of delicious foods hit their noses. "They are starting to make lunch, but I am sure there is still some breakfast items left."

"Rise with the sun?" Roddy asked. "Meaning you like to get up early? Or are your powers connected to the sun in some way?" He smirked in spite of himself.? "That'd make fighting at night kind of tricky, wouldn't it?"??

"You got any family?" he asked after a moment, looking over with open curiosity.? "Any of them mutants like you?"
(Donny) "Kind of...I mean the sun does help me build up my strength, but once I am at full strength I am good. I have a mother, but now she doesn't have any powers. I think I got them from my dad, but he isn't around. Hasn't been since before I was born. What about you?" Donny asked.

In fact, I wouldn't tell anyone else, except for Ms. Mia and Ms. Del how you came to be. Gen favored Akira with a sidelong glance.??"The only real difference between you and me is that your genes were modified randomly by chance while mine were modified intentionally and with purpose.? I may not be a mutant by the traditional understanding of the word, but to the people who hate mutants, I doubt that they'll make any distinction. Or if they do, it's unlikely to be anything in my favor."

"I sure hope so," Gen said, falling in step with the other boy. "I've got a super-high metabolic rate and so I'm always kinda hungry.? Living on the streets isn't so bad though.? I mean, there's always food lying around, if you know where to look.? And if you're not picky," the androgyne added with a shrug.? "It also helps that my system is designed to handle just about anything that can be broken down into sugars and proteins.

"Well, they are always serving some kind of food in here, pretty much from dawn until midnight. And even after that you can head into the kitchen and grab a snack or something." They headed to the buffet styled table. There were still plenty of breakfast items to chose from. Akira had already eaten, but he could always use a snack. He grabbed a plate and chose a variety of fruits and a glass of apple juice.

"Yep, seems like no matter how hard we try we always wind up somewhere, where there are rules we have to follow. The rules here aren't too bad, actually. Ms. Del and Ms. Mia are pretty easy going ladies. As long as everyone treats each other with respect, they don't care what we do and as long as we go to classes...the traditional ones and the ones where we hone our abilities." With that Donny stood up. "Time to hit the shower. Come on, you can get settled in our room." He offered a hand to help Roddy up.

Gen shivered when Akira brushed his upper arm for a moment, the skin on skin contact giving him a brief thrill.? "Sorry," the androgyne muttered, blushing at the rush of feeling he was experiencing.? "I'm kind of sensitive when people touch me.? Even by accident.? I think it's a trigger mechanism that was built into me."? He busied himself filling a plate of his own.? "If the contact is extended, I can even, well, kinda change."

He followed after Akira and found an empty spot where they could sit together, but with enough space that the other boy wouldn't be likely to brush against him again.? Unless that was something Akira wanted?? He nibbled at a strawberry, eyeing the other boy curiously.??
