"Oh!? Uhm, hi!" Gen replied, momentarily overwhelmed by the sudden influx of students into the hallway that had been completely empty before.? So many of them.? And so different from each other.? He noticed the hand Akira was extending to him, then took it.? "I'm... Gen.? And yes, I'm new here.? I'm kinda new everywhere, actually."

The androgyne looked around uncertainly as the students in the hall all seemed to be heading somewhere with purpose.? Not the same somewhere apparently, judging by the way they were going in different directions.? But still somewhere.? He looked back to Akira.? "Where is everyone going?? I... I don't really know where I'm supposed to be."? He realized that he was still holding on to the boy's hand.? It felt nice and warm and reassuring, but he forced himself to let it go.? "Is there anyone I can ask?? Or can I just go with you?? Maybe?"
(Akira) Akira gave Gen a smile as they released their hands from each other. Something about the lad made Akira tingle. "We are all heading to our next classes. Who brought you in to the Academy? Usually new students are taken to the office for in processing. Maybe we should start there, come along." He offered to help Gen out. "Have you had breakfast this morning?"

"Yeah," Roddy said, accepting the offered bottle with a nod.? "I think that was her name."? He followed the other boy's example and found a spot on the ground near the same logs.? "I take it she runs the place?? Seems nice enough.? I wasn't sure what to expect." He glanced around at the surrounding school grounds.? "I was half-expecting bars and guards and stun-sticks. But this place is more like some high school or college.? One for the upper class, even."? He looked back to Donny.? "And everyone here's a... mutant?" He said the word carefully, remembering his correction from Misty about using the word "mutie".? "What's your schtick, then?"
(Donny) "Misty, in charge, Gawd no. She is more the welcome wagon. Mia and Del are the ones in charge so to speak. They actually built the place and wanted it to be a safe haven for mutants. Not everyone is a mutant...some of the teachers aren't. Yes, we have teachers because we are to get an education as well as learn to hone our abilities." He paused as he took a long drink of his water. "Mine, strength. I am able to lift just about anything and I can track through vibrations in the ground. What about you?"

Akira gave Gen a smile as they released their hands from each other. Something about the lad made Akira tingle. "We are all heading to our next classes. Who brought you in to the Academy? "I don't know if I'm actually in the Academy," Gen said, biting his lip.? "Not yet, anyway.? I was kind of checking the place out, from the outside, last night.? And this nice lady saw me and invited me in, even though it was the middle of the night.? I haven't seen her since then and I haven't been processed at all."

The androgyne perked up at the prospect of food.? "I did eat something earlier, but that was a while ago and I'm hungry again.? I... I kind of have this high metabolism, because of all the things my body was designed to do.? So I have to eat a lot more than... than ordinary people do."

Roddy made a face at the mention of education.? "I never was good at school stuff.? Just barely got by for the most part." He started to reach for the water bottle but then thought better of it.? "Got enough there to share?" he asked, nodding at the bottle.

"Me?"? Roddy shrugged.? "It's sort of... electrical.? I mean, I can't shoot lightning bolts at people.? Not directly, anyway.? But if I focus on someone or something, I can make it so that they attract electrical discharges.? If I focus long enough... Boom!" he clapped his hands together for effect "They get zapped by lightning.? I don't even have to touch them.? I just have to be able to see them." He paused a moment, then added "Of course the closer I am to them, the easier it is to cause the charge to build up. Basic physics and all that, but like I said, I was never that good at school stuff."

The blond-haired youth hesitated, wondering how much he should share.? Finally he continued, but did so looking at the ground.? "I did some freelance muscle stuff now and then.? I used the name Lightning Rod.? I didn't like myself much, so I'm trying to stop."

Akira paused when Gen said, "designed to do", "so you were made by someone? That's different. Most us are born with our abilities, not created to have them. Let's head to the chow hall. I can skip my next class or two if needed. Get you something to eat and then find out if you need to get processed in. In the meantime, you can fill me in on what you are, you are fascinating, that's for sure."

(Donny) "There are more in my bag, thought I mentioned that. Go ahead and grab one." Donny said about the water. "Well, not all of us are good at the school stuff. The curriculum is pretty laid back." Then he listened to Roddy talk about his abilities. "Ah, well, Ms. Mia and Ms. Del want us to use our abilities for good, so you are in the right place to stop using them for hired muscle." He glanced at his watch. "Well, I need to hit the showers. Have you been to our room yet?"
