Sorry Lori, but I can find no cross reference to your Young’s. My relatives came over from Ireland in 1880’s to Altoona, Pa.

Hi Thomas, I was directing my question to Lori, but I'll explain it to you.

You might want to do this. Over at Familytree DNA, you can take a Y-DNA test which is your direct male line. I had one of my first cousins do it. He's a Young by birth. Once his results came back, he had a bunch of matches. It's not always the case, but he has several matches named Young and we were able to pin down the likely common ancestor. I added his test results to the Young surname project there and he is grouped with a bunch of Young men who descend from Youngs from Perry County, Kentucky. I tested another cousin on my Hunt line and disappointingly, he has no matches named Hunt. He has a ton of matches, but not the surnames expected. I have added his test data to several different surname and regional projects and he isn't grouped with anyone!!! But it happens a lot, so you have to be prepared for it. We believe there is an illegitimate birth in that line somewhere, either my 2x GGF or before him. If you haven't Y-tested, you should.
