Now for some news I have today.?

A person looking at the 1875 census found the father of issac and usher, Ios or Joseph. The census states that the father of Ios is Iael Berkov. He had three other sons. Avrum, Iudko and Hershko. Avrum had two sons, Leyb and Moshko

I went into the 1850 census and found the household with Avrum, Ios and Iudko along with their parents. There mother was Sura-sheina. Their fathers name was transcribed at Eliya. Eliya and Sura has a total of 9 children listed and three daughters in law. I will provide those names in a few days when I have my computer with me. I have asked the person researching this to look again at the 1875 census now to look for the other siblings of Avrum And Ios to go further down the family tree.?

Scott,

This is fantastic information. Thank you for requesting and forwarding to the group!

I’m unfamiliar with the Russian census. What other information can be found? Occupation (likely farmers, but perhaps others?), age, birth place, household income, etc? Anything else that would reveal demographics?

Are there any other artifacts like birth certificates, death certificates, cemetery names, head stones, synagogue(s) attended, additional photographs?

When you have an opportunity can you post the census documents to our ListServe site? Both in Russian and English transcribed if possible?

Thanks again for this awesome information!

Best Regards,

Mike
