EL 900 VL and plg100vl in PSR9000Pro
According to the EL900 owner's manual, its Virtual Acoustic voices cannot be edited, and after-touch for these is Control Change 16 (XG Assignable Controller 1). Hardware:? As well as those? in my previous message on this subject, Yamaha-supported PLG150VL hosts include S90, Motif ES and MU2000. A friend had a Kenton Plugstation to house 1 to 4 PLG cards including PLG150VL - I don't know if these are still on the market.. Software: If I recall correctly, the PLGs are shipped with an editor plug-in for Yamaha's XG-Works sequencer,? If you want a more powerful (and more pricey) editor, look at Rudy Verpaele's? (http://vl70m-editor.com/site/ ?)? You may use one of the other editors in the Files section, but they are supplied as-is with no guarantees. |
You are correct that you cannot edit the VL on the EL900, this is only possible on the 900M, ( wish I could get hold of the update Kit ) but they can be edited or should I say created on external software hence the question, can the editors work on the installed ViLs/boards. I should have read the 9000pro manual before posting (or was that boasting?) about other PLG hosts. The 900M's EL and XG modes both support control changes 72 and 73 for Release and Attack respectively, but I could not find mention of the controller for Decay (Non-Registered Parameter Number 228 on XG).? The Easy Edit mode of the 9000pro's Custom Voice Creator may be of use to send these on the MIDI channel used by the EL900's VA element - if that works you may have no need to buy a PLG board. If otherwise, there seems to be vast differences between the PLG150VL's single VA element per voice and the EL900's structure of 1 VA, 1 AWM and 4 FM elements per voice. |
Its interesting that I could possibly use the 9000 to edit the VL voices in the EL900.? I know of the El-Edit but expensive for them and I cannot seem to get any replies from John Beesley so far.
