Preset styles and what they are based on?
Rocky
Hi, I uploaded a small PDF with notes I've taken about preset styles and what bands they remind me of..
Does anyone else have similar observations to share? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ?QY100 Styles Notes.pdf |

开云体育Nice reference list! funny, it reminds you of bands that I never listened to. I think one style reminded me the Cranberries. I only heard the styles the same day I took it out of the box. On Oct 22, 2022, at 9:37 AM, Rocky via groups.io <Wsbsub@...> wrote:

The list book tags any phrase in a phrase category ending in 'b' as "specific." So for example, 'Db', 'Bb', etc. I think that indicates it was based on an existing song. And anything ending in 'a' is more generic. Haven't verified this thoroughly, but that's my understanding, which would mean styles that use phrases in the "specific" categories would be the ones based on real songs. If I'm correct in my understanding, that would narrow down which styles to scan when trying to match them to songs on which they're based. |

Nice tip - I'll have another sniff through the styles but noticing which phrase categories are used..
Interesting.. My method so far has been listening to the styles MAIN-A MAIN-B and then absent-mindedly wondering who it reminds me of.. Some are clearer than others of course. ?(yes, I mean YOU "Liverpol")? Cheers, Rocky |

开云体育Oops, I meant progression number 15, not necessarily pattern #15… ?lol!["The longest journey starts with the first step."?- Lao Tzu] On Oct 23, 2022, at 6:46 PM, Eric via groups.io <erichemingway@...> wrote:

From Johannes Emmerling's amazing qy70 faq:
Q: Haven't I heard that Style before? Kory suggested that these bits are ripped off:

89? ? 16Country Doobie Bros. Listen to the Music? I don't know how much crossover there is between qy70 and qy100 presets as i haven't had a qy100. |

Hey - thanks for that - I'll look into the Play Effects -> Swing as the QY100 doesn't have Groove Templates. I'll assume for now that it is the same or similar effect.
The Drum Table Remapping is something I haven't played with yet too... Do you know if those Play Effects can be applied to the Accompaniment Parts? The manual only mentions the sequencer tracks. |
Blake- I started with the QY70 myself before “graduating” to the QY100. I tend to agree with you that the 70’s patterns in general were better. That being said, the beauty of both units is that you can cut and paste any pattern or snippet, cross pollinate styles, and create something wholly other. It’s a never-ending smorgasbord…
