Hi all

As I just bought a Yamaha QY70 (second-hand, Carousell, Singapore)
I thought I would introduce myself to the group to share my interests.

From what I read on manual there are a lot of System Exclusive (SYSEX)
messages to request/dump data from/to the QYs. I feel it would be useful
to develop some tools for the QYs users to load/save and edit songs,
patterns, styles, etc. Development would be done using Qt to have
multi-platform support (Win/Linux/Mac) and push to my github.
I use Win10 and Linux Ubuntu.

The LCD of my QY70 is very dimmed even with contrast at maximum.
With a electronics background, I was please to read someone suggesting
some sort of video output (VGA with scaling for e.g. ). Studying the QYs
schematics from service manuals, I could imagine a solution with a FPGA
that would receive LCD driver chip (T6963C for the QY) commands and
would render to a VGA monitor. Some interesting future hacking ! First
step is probably to replace my QY70 lcd with a more recent one possibly
with backlight !

Please don't hesitate to suggest things to do in software/hardware !

Best regards

Hi,
?
Welcome to the group!
?
There has been a lot of discussion about back lights and the different types that can be installed internally and externally… Take a look at the forum search utility for more information there’s also several uploads in the files and pictures section.

Also from my understanding there is quite a bit involved in a the file output proprietary to the QY. ?It is pretty much undocumented by Yamaha but there are a few threads about it as well with some basic information.
?
Cheers,
Eric
