Welcome to the new home of the Yamaha QY70 / QY100 user group!

?Greetings QY users!,?

With the closing of the yahoo QY 70 user group in December, this will be the new home for all things QY70/QY100.

Just some FYI’s to keep in mind:

  • Eventually, all of the files of the section of the Yahoo group will be copied over to the file section of this user group.
  • We will also try to copy as many of the photos as possible, though we might cull them (to just the most useful) since they have to be moved manually.
  • At this point, it seems there may be no way to copy all of the old conversations/threads from the yahoo group, but we are still looking into it. ?

In the meantime, here are some links to the various sections of Yahoo group that you can for reference (until December):
Files:?
Photos:?
Attachments:?
Conversations:?

If possible, please add a link to this group in your Yahoo group signature (or include one in any new yahoo posts) so that other members ?will have every opportunity to find and join this new group before the December closing of the yahoo group. ? Thanks!

Cheers,
Eric!

groups.io wont import the messages and files? or is it a matter of paying for the upgrade? If the latter, and if it's too painful to do in some other way, I'd be happy to contribute to keep the valuable info from the yahoo group.?

Thanks for setting this up!

?Hi,

The files are not a problem, I’ve already uploaded a few and I will continue to upload the rest over the next month or so. ?BTW, 开云体育 allots 1GB of storage which is plenty considering yahoo only had about 100mb of files. ?Additionally, the files are not scheduled to be deleted at Yahoo until mid-december.
?
The problem with conversations is that (as far as I know) there is no way to export them (in bulk) from Yahoo besides scraping them or paying groups.io to import all of them which requires a $100 per year fee. ? Plus, I don’t even know if groups.io has any automated facility to extract them from Yahoo or if they leave that up to us... so paying may not even help anyway.?

?In any case, I don’t think all of the previous conversations are going to be that necessary if we have a decent number of members to address any questions people have....which I don’t think will be too much of a problem considering we already have over 20 members currently.?

Cheers,
Eric

Just wanted to post an update regarding the content of the Yahoo group’s QY70 forum:

?I got an email from Yahoo that allowed me to request that they archive all of the conversations files images etc, ?that I should be able to use to populate this new group.
?
I requested it about a week ago and Yahoo told me they will let me know when it’s ready via email, but so far I have not heard anything.
?
My guess is they are still perfecting the archival procedure as well as handling probably hundreds of requests to archive decades worth of data, so it may be a while.

I will post with updates as things progress. ? ?

One way or the other, I will make an effort to grab as much information from the old site as possible, but I will wait to see what Yahoo comes up with as I am sure there content extraction would be far more all-encompassing and would also save a great deal of time and effort versus doing it manually.?

Cheers!,
Eric?

?PS (In the meantime, don’t forget that you can use the links at the top of this message if you want to go to the original QY70 Yahoo groups’ various content sections).

Hi all,

It takes weeks for Yahoo to get the download together - I know because I did it a while ago. I run a number of lists so they prepare it all together.

Anyway, here are the collected messages, files and links for the qygroup until Nov 1st 2019 in a 66 Mb .zipfile.? Feel free to download it at;

Best regards

/ Thomas

Awesome thank you. Have downloaded. Appreciate it very much.

I was able to convert some (most?) messages from the old Yahoo Group .mbox files into HTML with

I tried uploading them on here, but my browser crashed, so I'll FTP them somewhere so they can be searched through more easily. If anyone has other ideas, let me know.

Bill,

Your effort ?is greatly appreciated. ?(I have had that on my todo list for sometime, but have not had the time to look into it).

?In any case, PLEASE make sure that if you upload them you are not re-creating a thread for every yahoo conversation (as that would generate an email for each post to many of the groups members...which would not just be annoying, but also could potentially fill up their mailboxes with 1000s of messages!)?

I think a better place for all those messages might be a searchable archive that could be placed into the files section and then linked to (via a permanently pinned thread in the group). ? ?

Another option would be to load them into a groups.io WIKI for the QY70/QY100, though I am unsure what the format would be to automate it’s creation/loading of the messages in an organized format.?

Of course, I am open to any/all alternatives you (or others) might think would be a better solution. ??

Cheers,
Eric

Bill,?

I also noticed that groups.io also has a Database area, so I added a simple empty table for archived conversations (that you can modify to fit your needs):

/g/YamahaQY70AndQY100/database

Please take a look and see if you think something like this might be useful (or easier to configure/setup/import into) than the other options I mentioned.

(I am unfamiliar with hypermail, But I just thought that perhaps it can create comma-delimited output that would be easily importable into a properly formatted table).

Anyway, just tossing it out there as another possible option.

Cheers,?

Hmm, I don't think it can make use of a database, it's an index of separate HTML files. Because there are over 4000 files, I wasn't able to upload them on the groups.io File section, so I had to do it via FTP, then zip and unzip.

I uploaded the contents of the mbox files on a free host:

1999 to 2003:
2003 to 2013:
2013 to 2019:

I also uploaded all three here as a zip, if anyone wants to give it a more permanent home, maybe even make a nicer index page :

It's possible , but hopefully Google will do it by itself and people will be able to find info on there.

One last thing, some messages were skipped because of a lack of title or some other reason. It looks like they were mostly spam or unrelated to the topic.

First mbox error messages during export:
Message-ID is missing, ignoring message with subject 'Re: [QY70] Digest Number 537'.
Message-ID is missing, ignoring message with subject 'roland GS'.

Second mbox error messages during export:
