I accidentally damaged the circuit board

Yes you can.

?

Clean the area with IPA and scrape away the green laquer to expose the copper trace.

?

Solder a Wire between the two pins of the battery.

?

However, you must check the PCB on the component side to check which pin is used to connect to the rest of the circuitry.

?mne: [YamahaDX] I accidentally damaged the circuit board

?

Hello everyone.

After reading that article on replacing the battery base for the machine, I tried to replace the battery base myself, but due to my poor soldering skills (first time using it), I accidentally burned the solder joint in the negative battery hole, making it impossible to adsorb solder now.

Can I connect a wire from the right solder post and run it through the negative hole of the battery?

Thanks to all the experts for their input.

Yes, you can connect a wire in place of the circuit board trace.? At the most fundamental level, that's what a circuit board trace is, a thin wire.? As long as the wire does not touch any other traces when you are finished, it will work.

Two comments:

  1. WT's suggestion to use what's left of the trace as a "pad" is a good one.? This creates a new connection for the repair wire, which may be beneficial for the future.? Use a sharp, pointed knife like an X-Acto #1 to scrape 4-5mm of the green coating from the damaged trace near the 'burned' end.? Use light force; you do *not* want to cut through the copper.? The exposed copper can then be used as a soldering point for the new wire.
  1. If you are new to soldering, I would recommend practicing on some other, less valuable circuit board a little before you proceed.? Also, do not use a fixed-temperature iron of more than 25-40W.? Better yet, use an iron with an adjustable temperature control.? I see dozens of them on Amazon for less than $50USD.? You only need about 200C to melt lead solder, and about 250C to melt tin solder.
