very interesting question :)

i think its not possible directly but i bet it's possible to convert patches from DX100 to DX7 cause , DX100 's got 4 operators and 8 (if i remember correctly ? ) algorithms for operators routing so , if u "disable" 2 operators on DX7 (u dont use last 2 operators for instance) ,u 're having 4 operators and same number of possible algorithms :) but i think envelope and some other settings 're different,so u have to "convert" them somehow to nearest settings on DX7.. uhm okay why to do it anyway ?? cause of that kickass "Solid Bass" factory patch on DX100 ! well atleast i love it...one organ patch too on DX100 if anyone's got DX100 or similar i would like to have these Solid bass parameters ,to try to recreate that on mine TX802 :) i readed smth about it on : but i almost fall asleep so i'll try to read about conversion there. i repeat if someone's got DX100 or similar handy please, please send me "Solid Bass" factory patch parameters (and draw algorithm it uses so i know which one to turn on on my TX ) if i suceed i'll post procedure here greetingz to all FM lunatics :) --- In YamahaDX@..., robsonls@c... wrote:

I think sysex dump is not possible. Spending some time learning about both synths and parameter ranges should allow you

to get a decent manual conversion. I think the DX100 has only Sine waves, right? Not 8 waveform choices like on the TX81z? If you have FM synth/patch that has waveforms that are not sine, then this is impractical (if even possible) to convert to a 6-op (or 8-op: FS1r) synth. But if the waveform is sine, then you should be able to mute the extra operators on a higher-operator synth. This is the technique Yamaha used to transfer DX7/TX802 6-op sounds to the FS1r, which has an incredible 8-operators. Interestingly, the FS1r can recieve sysex from DX7 synths, and it automatically mutes the extra 2 operators. THe FS1r is one of the most incredible synths ever made. Very underrated. And you can buy them for $350-$500 on ebay. One of the best purchases I ever made. Very underrated and unknown synth. Shayme ----- Original Message -----

The DX-7 is a 6-op, the DX-100 is a 4-op. They're
