DX7 constantly sending midi

Hello,

I've noticed on my midi interface that my DX7 is constantly sending something. The light on the interface is dim and rapidly flashing (The light is bright for instance when I play a note)

Is this normal for a DX7? If not I'm guessing I may have an aftertouch that isn't turning fully off

Hi,

i had the same thing when i had a Roland U220 (i think it was).? It was because i had the ACTIVE MIDI SENSING turned to ON.? So every few seconds the LED would pulsate.

It is probably active sensing which most DX uses to check a cable is present so that overhanging notes are silenced if a cable is removed during transmission.

Yep I bet that's what it is. I also have system info turned on for sending sysex banks. Is that what turns on active sensing?

When I went through the diagnostics I noticed when I would release many different keys the aftertouch would only go down to 2 so I though perhaps that was the issue.?

I'll experiment tonight to see if I can get the light to go away. But if it is active sensing or system info that shouldn't be an issue.?

I'm guessing there is probably a program (i'm on os x 10.8) ?that tells me what midi info is coming in? Perhaps something in logic 9?
