Hi Jim, when you say "had to replace ICs" you mean pull them out and put them back in their "stands" ? Or did you changed them by other, tell me if I'm wrong but does this means to re-program them ?

DXconvert can do a lot of things, but converting dx7 to 4-op is NOT one of them. It can only convert 4-op to dx7 (6-op) -- MT

Thanks for the follow-up. For those interested, IC14 is the ROM, while IC20 & IC21 are Static RAM chips.

Fixed! Had to replace IC 14, IC 20, and IC 21 Chips. Works great now.

You only need a USB Midi port. There are some that are not very expensive. There models from E-MU and M-Audio for under 40$ brand new. You can probably also find one used at good price on local adds

i use a midisport 4x4 usb interface that works with my dx7ii and my sy99 i use dx manager and it allows me to read and dump sysex to all my dx instruments and allows me to convert to sy77/99

Hi David, Whatever cardtridge you have must be available in sysex somewhere on the net. Then do a MIDI dump from your PC, if you have a MIDI port. I don't see how else you are going to do that,

Hi david, Looking at my TX802 manual which is a DX7II in a rack you can read (but not write) original DX7 carts with the addition of an adaptor called the ADP1 ,so might be worth trying to find one

Oh, oh, one more thing... Did you try spraying them with cleaner. I use Radio Shack's cleaner & lubricant spray to revive noisy pots. For $10 US it's the best deal I've found yet for restoring
