Hi,
Thanks for the info. I have been to Dave Benson's site (and got a
pretty decent "Keyboard" article about programming the DX7). I
haven't seen the other one tho. It looks useful, thanks for that. I
think I've seen you about before, I remember checking your MP3's.
Aren't you on any other lists? Reply privately so as not to bore the
other group members:)
Thanks again,
Nick:)

Hi Nick,
if you need more help try following links...
Dave Bensons's DX7 Page with a lot's of informations and links...
ftp://byrd.math.uga.edu/pub/html/dx7.html
The Unofficial FS1R page... the FS1R may be not that interesting
for you,
but the link page points to lots of FM synthesis tutorials...
I hope that helps!

Yeah, I have that. It's HUGE!!!! Pretty daunting infact but the
one
piece of advice about gear that has proved the most useful is to
take
my time and take baby steps. I'll look through that manual slowly
and
hope it makes sense. I like the "quick reference" bit near the
start... My kinda language:)
Thanks anyway,
Nick:)

The DX7 manual is on line at Yamaha. It goes in to depth about
the
synth's
FM signal process.

Subject: [YamahaDX] new to list, need help...
Hi,
I am getting my DX7 delivered tomorrow. I know what to expect.
I've
never done FM synthesis before but I've studied waveforms and
how
they interact (data comms at college:) so I understand the
concepts
involved. I don't have a computer at home but I may be getting
one
soon.
I understand that Vangelis used a DX7 (?). Does anyone know
where
I
can find patches of his sounds. Also, does anyone know if
there's
any
software that can play patches on a PC so I know what they
sound like? Or am I talking a lot of crap, you'll have to
forgive
me... I'm new to this stuff...
Thanks,
Nick:)
