Try another length (a few feet more or less as you have now)

It will work I have an fc1000 by yaesu (nearly the same as the fc40) and and some setups you have to shorten or lengthen the wire that tuner finds a match (well documented in owners manual) Dg9bfc Sigi Ps you also can add a small coil at the shack end to get away from low current point ... then also the tuner will find a match -----Ursprüngliche Nachricht----- |

Just bought a new Yaesu FT-950 and FC-40 Tuner.
Previously, and still in the shack, is my ICOM IC-706MKIIG and AH-4 Tuner. That setup worked just fine. I just wanted a new transceiver. I stayed with a 71 foot single wire but cannot tune on 40 meters with the FC-40. Reading eham.net, it seems that others have had smiilar problems. There may be no one length of wire that will tune all bands. The AH-4 did tune all bands. Sure will appreciate any ideas and suggestions. Very disappointed with the tuner at this point.
