Just bought a new Yaesu FT-950 and FC-40 Tuner.
Previously, and still in the shack, is my ICOM IC-706MKIIG and AH-4 Tuner. That setup worked just fine. I just wanted a new transceiver.

I stayed with a 71 foot single wire but cannot tune on 40 meters with the FC-40. Reading eham.net, it seems that others have had smiilar problems. There may be no one length of wire that will tune all bands. The AH-4 did tune all bands.

Sure will appreciate any ideas and suggestions. Very disappointed with the tuner at this point.

Thanks,
Dave, W5KKC

Try another length (a few feet more or less as you have now)

It will work

I have an fc1000 by yaesu (nearly the same as the fc40) and and some setups
you have to shorten or lengthen the wire that tuner finds a match (well
documented in owners manual)

Dg9bfc

Sigi

Ps you also can add a small coil at the shack end to get away from low
current point ... then also the tuner will find a match
