COLLINS FILTER YF-115S-02

Butch McCollough

Hello to the group. I'm a new member.? I just acquired an FT-847 and am trying to locate the optional Collins RX filter.? It is the
YF-115S-02.? ?Anyone have one laying around that you would sell for less than the King's ransom?? Or do you know where I could find one?? Thanks for any help.

Hi Butch, i'm not sure if you know but the filters in an FT1000MP Mark V are also compatible in the FT847.? This might expand your ability to locate one.? I searched a long time for the 500 Hz CW filter without luck until I learned about the cross-compatibility.? I was searching "FT847 CW filter" (and variations of) and was finding nothing or listings with rediculous greedBay prices.? Skeptical, I did a lot of image searches for the CW filters for both radios and compared them and they looked the same.? So I took a chance and started searching "FT1000MP CW filter" and in short order I was able to find one being parted out by an FT1000MP owner.? I too am looking for the SSB filter.? A couple of times I almost convinced FT1000MP owners to part with their 2.4 kHz SSB filter but failed.? Someday!? :-)
?
?
This was the site where I first discovered the cross compatibility.? Scroll down about half way for the SSB one.

Thank you Richard. I was aware of the FT-1000 MP using the same filters.
I happened on to that same site as the link you sent to me.? I may
pursue that avenue a little more again now.? Thanks so much for letting
me know tho.

The filter for the 847 is not common.
Filter for ft1000 is more frequent.
However, there are other radios available, such as Kenwood. A narrow 455 filter from a Kenwood will work, and work well. It's just a question of finding space for it, and connecting two pieces of coax to it.
