VX-_7R Memory Alpha Tags

Hello All:
I just joined the group.? I see it is not very active.?
I have a VX-7R which is the first radio I bought when I got my ticket.
It has been mostly resting in a closet for some years.
I decided to bring it back to life.
I am glad I did except for the convoluted manual.
Which brings about the request for help.

I can see the alpha tags for the memory channels in the VX-7R Commander software (I use it for programming)
But try as I may, I cannot get the alpha tags to display.
As an example:
I am in MG3, Main.
The channel has an alpha tag.
I do not see it.
I have done a full reset.
Written to the radio, etc
Anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks in advance!

I am following this.
?i have the RT systems sw for this, and believe this is mostly resolved there,
?but I dont?recall, its been a while since I picked this radio up as well. maybe its time to resurrect?it as well?
Sincerely,
?Mr. Chris A. Robinson?

It is really a great little radio.

I guess I just got busy and it went into storage.
I know it worked previously.
I am thinking it is how I am calling up the memory station but have not resolved it yet.
Cheers!

To view tag you need to be in single vfo mem mode by using the main n sub buttons to select single vfo hold one of them in for a few seconds. Also check when in v/m memory mode menu “Basic setup :11” Name set it will display what is in that memory channel number.
Brilliant radio got 2 of them and had them almost 20 years and still use them.

Yes sir.

I had the opportunity to look at the radio last evening.

Single VFO memory mode.
No alpha tags.

Single VFO MG mode.
No alpha tags.

Going the set up menu:
I can see the channels and alpha tags.

Not the end of my world that the alpha tags do not display.
Just would be nice if they did.

I have done a full reset of the radio.
I deleted and reinstalled the Commander software.
Rewritten the programming to the radio.

As noted a tremendous radio!

Thanks for your help.

Best regards
Leslie

To view Memory Channel names:

1:
Long press the Main key until only one band is visible. This is a toggle. So, if you see two bands, long press again to show only one band.

2:
Short press the V/M key to ensure you are in Memory mode. This is a toggle. Short press until MR is displayed.

3:
Short press the MonF key, then press the Main key. This toggles showing large characters vs name tags.

Thank you!!!!
This solved my issue!
