USB port question)s)
#interface
Just bought a NIB 6000 at a recent hamfest, trying to get it set up before putting it in the mobile. Having perused the owners manual and researched online, I see virtually no information on the two USB ports. I connected the port on the main chassis to a win10 laptop, but it isn't recognized. I tried loading Prolific drivers from the Yaesu website for earlier models, still not recognized. I don't have the connector or an RS232 port to connect to he data port (yet). Should have a workable cable and port here later this week.
My question is, what are these two ports for? Strictly updates? Maybe I missed something in the manual, but I didn't even see them mentioned, though the one on the chassis is marked DATA with a small switch under it marked NORMAL and UPDATE. The one on the control head is marked DATA but no switch. Are these for updating firmware only, or is the ADMS software supposed to communicate with them? TIA - |

开云体育The USB ports are for updating the firmware.? And from what I can tell, there isn’t an update yet.? One USB is for updating the main unit and the other one is for updating the detachable head unit. ? ? ? Jerry Suhrstedt W7WAX (360) 791-3311 ?

开云体育You can use the optional camera mic on the head unit. ?Can’t use the camera but you will have an attached mic to the head for mobile applicationsDon AI7LU On Mar 7, 2023, at 12:11 PM, Jerry Suhrstedt - W7WAX <jerry@...> wrote:

as Jerry said, ?NIB=new in box. Bought from individual instead of vendor. He got it as a present, decided to sell it instead of using it b/c it didn’t fit where he wanted to put it in his truck.? I’m trying to avoid the Yaesu and RT Systems cables as they are based on the Prolific chip. That chip has been problematic from the get-go. The FTDI chips “just work” with no special driver installation required.? The biggest issue has been the 10 pin mini DIN connector. So far, the closest I have found is the direct-tv video cable described on this reflector. Got one, made the mods suggested, and established communication. I’m trying the ADMS-13 from Yaesu. It looks like it will meet basic needs at least.? Im not sure why Yaesu would revert to RS232 on a new radio today, but at least FTDI RS232 dongles are cheap and easy to find.? 73, |
I have used the RT Systems software and cables for: ?FT-897, FT-70, FT-3, and FT-6000, and never experienced any issues with drivers or even had to think about the chips or drivers. ?Load the software, plug in the cable and it works. ?I have also never heard of any one that had any problems with RT-Systems cables. ?That is kinda the reason for using them. ?
