Type M connector

My new to me 980 has a type M connector on the back. ?I gather it’s basically a SO-239, but metric. A PL-259 slides right over it but there’s enough difference in size that the threads don’t bite. ?

Does anyone have an idea where I can source one of these? ?I’m in southern Alberta Canada.?

Is it by chance a type N connector? You should be able to buy an adaptor for it.?

The manual says type M.?

Can you post a photo of the connector and manual so we can have a look?

5/8x24 thread PL259 vs metric 16x1mm thread
?
I came across info about missmatched PL259 from Aliexpress with a metric thread, almost fits but not quite
No personnal experience and never seen HF gear especially old Yaesu equipment that doesn't use a standard SO-239
My FT980 does use the standard fitting for a PL259

The manual DOES describe the ANT jack as a "Type M". This seems to be an obscure reference to the standard PL259/SO239 connection type. I'm unable to find it defined as anything else (excepting a completely unrelated automotive coax connection).

I am wondering if someone replaced the SO239 on the back of your rig with something else (N-type?, something else)?
